And, to add one more twist to this saga, the Alaska State House of Representatives has just passed a resolution asking the federal government to apologize to Ted Stevens and to let Stevens sue the Department of Justice.
If Alaskans want Stevens back in, they should recall the new Senator. Having a "do-over" election would be insane and would make a mockery out of the election process.
Had the information that had been hidden been disclosed he would have been re-elected based on the grounds of innocence. Which is why is was withheld so it could change the outcome of the election because the left is all about winning no matter how as has become apparent in the last election.
Yeah, that wacky left leaning Bush DOJ, always doing all they can to make sure that Republicans lose important elections and allow the Ds to get closer to a filibuster proff majority.
Do you have any idea how ridiculous your post sounds?

This is the same as the OJ trial back in 1995. Meaning that while OJ did it (anyone who did not think so is foolish), the prosecution messed up so bad with proceedures that the jury had to follow the judges instructions and OJ got off.
Stevens got off due to prosecuters misconduct. That did not neccesarily mean he was not guilty.
Quid pro quo. A deal was cut and some dem slime will go free or other favors will be exchanged. But I wonder what Stevens had on high ups to get them to toss the case?

Actually, that is precisely what it means: Stevens is not guilty. In this country you have to be convicted to be guilty.
First the sitting Senator DID win the election. I do not see how you can say he did not, he got more votes, that ='s WINNER. The current sitting Senator had nothing to do with the inditement. Uncle Ted was crooked, and he did take at least 1/4 million in home improvements. That is just what we know of, he is getting out of it on a technicallity.
Second, the Attorneys involved were in the Bush "Justice" department, there is a new AG and President, I suspect they were done anyway after the scandals of the Bush "Justice" department.
I see what you mean now. Beglich won the election; by sitting Senator I was thinking about Stevens, who was the sitting senator at the time of the election.

That is the intent, and the feds already made a mockery of the last election. Only another election will ensure Alaskans have a choice in their representation, instead of the feds choosing for us.
