No "immigration reform" should be implemented until our borders are secure.

There's no need to deport anyone. Make it a felony to hire an illegal immigrant, and illegal immigrants will go home under their own steam.

The current party is not for tougher laws but ways for them to become citizens.

Seems to me that the anti-amnesty crowd like to close gates after the cows get out of the pasture.

Grant citizenship, but make securing the border a higher priority against future illegal immigration.
The pro-illegal side fully intends not only to have a massive blanket amnesty for all illegals including those still arriving, and they intend to have a big "family reunification" program because families can only reunify in the USA. They not only demand amnesty but a way to bring in any family members still remaining back in their countries.

There is a way for them to become citizens unless they have criminal records or have no ability to find work of any kind -- and even that requirement is weak, easily got around.

The USA takes in far more legal immigrants than any other nation on this earth, and most of our legal immigrants come from Mexico and Central America. There is nothing at all stopping these people from going home and starting over the right way, except for their own sense of entitlement, their belief that they should not be required to abide by the same laws that others are following.

What's ironic is that Americans are so very generous and allow non-English speakers to take jobs but once the Spanish speakers get their numbers to a certain level, they deny English speakers jobs by insisting that anyone providing them services be fluent in their language.

It didn't happen after Reagan's amnesty.

I can see the news headlines in 2020:

Estimated 40 million undocumented Americans. Democrats demand immigration reform.

You dont even have to go that close to the border. That already is happening in some parts of Northern VA. Culmore and Arlandria are two parts in Northern VA that are no man's land if your dont speak spanish. All within a few miles of the White House.
