The craziest thing about these tea parties is that they are funded by big money, but the crazies that show up are lower-middle class, fear-mongers who will ALL get TAX BREAKS under Obama! Think, people. Think...
In his New York Times column today, Paul Krugman writes that “it turns out that the tea parties don’t represent a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment.” Instead, Krugman notes that a key role in organizing the “AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events” is being played “by FreedomWorks, an organization run by Richard Armey, the former House majority leader, and supported by the usual group of right-wing billionaires.”
I guess some people have to have it pointed out that a organiozed event takes a organiztion to make them come aboput. You know;just like the thoudand man march;past civil rights marches;Rosa parks bus ride;those gay rights marches. I find it funny so many really think people just showup at these things;some need to get their heads out of sand.
You can't get over the fact that Bush was so unpopular can you?
Nope you must be confused with your boy Bush... You recall that usual photo op in front of the usual safe haven e.g. Military Base that Bush always sought out. His staff were briefing soldiers on what questions to ask Bush and Bush would respond with his prepared answer. They all thought the camera's and mikes were off when in fact they were on. I saw this on NBC and I must admit that it was entertaining...

I think you can't get over the fact Bush was President. This 2009 Obama is President. Bush derangement syndrome is a powerful thing!
Those who are unemployed as a result of these overpriced, unecessary toys for generals will probably be taken up by other defense contractors building competing weapon systems..
Those 'unnecessary toys' keep our troops safe and bring them home faster.
Let us consider some other worthless items that were completely a waste because they were created or improved through the military and defense spending - Computers, the internet, GPS, jet engines, the Interstate Highway system, digital cameras, etc.

You do the military does that as well? They also build and maintain dams, levees, locks, and hydroelectric plants. The standard design (especially in grading and drainage) for all highways and arterial roads in the US came directly from military engineers.

I believe your views coincide with mine, but I would like to make a few points first..
The military (esp. the Army and Air Force) provide immediate job training for almost any field you would want to get in. You learn to a do a job well, and just about every MOS transfers into the civilian workforce. Alternatively, you receive almost no job experience or training going through college - The military can pay for your college AND provide free job training.
When a new project is initiated, civilian and military engineers are employed, eventually providing thousands of jobs. There are even departments that specialize in applying new technology directly to the civilian sector. I cannot emphasize enough how many advances in technology and in medicine have been made as a result of defense spending and war. Even better, these jobs are created almost instantly.
On a final note, the stimulus package was a massive bill that pushed the agendas of Obama and House Democrats. It had nothing to do with the economy, the economy was an excuse to get the bill passed. And yes, I agree with infrastructure spending, however, if the rest of the spending is so helpful, why rush it through, and why not wait a few months for people to be more receptive of such spending? The economy is already well on its way to recovery, and very few effects of the stimulus package have had the chance to set in.
