It appears that China was attempting to get rid of their coal ash problems by mixing it with the drywall compound. When the drywall is exposed to moisture, such as high humidity a chemical reaction starts. The result of this reaction is the production of Hydrogen Sulfide and Sulfuric acid gas. This is the rotten egg smell that is present with the drywall.

Sad isn't it. Just look at the poison milk situation they had, I dont think it effected the US but imagine if it did. The US needs to start manufacturing things again and not out source it because saves a few dollars on the price.

I apologize for my spelling but this topic really gets to me. I try at the store to look for things still made in America but that becomes harder and harder. Ironically while grocery shopping today the one thing I did find made in the USA were egg rolls, I mean come on.
