Veterans angered over extremism report
US govt faces veteran anger at extremism report
The US Homeland Security Department, under fire for saying US forces returning from the Iraq and Afghan wars were potential right-wing extremist recruits, said Wednesday it honors US veterans.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano sought to douse anger among conservatives and veterans groups like the American Legion over a report from her department warning of a rising threat of right-wing extremism.

Since we can't email Janet I'm putting a letter in the mail to let her know how stupid it was of her to insult military veterans since they are the most qualified people to work for the DHS. Why should military veterans apply to work for DHS when DHS considers them to be a terrorist threat to the country they served.

Regardless of your finger pointing, we should not be denigrating the veterans who have fought for this country. I also don't recall any fear of supposed "new restrictions on firearms" occurring until the current administration took office (stated in the report).
Bottom line is that these fears relate to government oppression.

Who voted for Dept of homeland terrorism? I didn't. Many who disagree with me on many issues also did not support the formation of this org. If white house officials would ignore 2 pieces of paper mentioning terrorist threats, they can also ignore 3.

The American Legion passed Resolution 407. It resolved, in part, '…we consider any individual, group of individuals or organizations, which creates, or fosters racial, religious or class strife among our people, or which takes into their own hands the enforcement of law, determination of guilt, or infliction of punishment, to be un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law…' The best that I can say about your recent report is that it is incomplete. The report states, without any statistical evidence

That's been answered on many of the other copies of this thread. The outgoing Republican Administration in Missouri (Republican Governor Matt Blunt) ordered a similar report last year which was released a week or two before this one. It caused the same kinds of people to hop up and down and make silly demands of current Democratic Governor Jay Nixon. He ordered the report withdrawn, put in some checks on the process so this particular "dirty trick" couldn't be used again, and otherwise told them they should sit on it and spin. It's sad that people do things like this, it's sad there are people dumb or gullible enough to fall for them, and even sadder to see them vote based on them. That's democracy.
