That's how it is with Republicans; little children minds & spoiled from all the government handouts!
Most of that 'resource drain' goes to military bases and R&D projects, so perhaps it would be better that way. Then we can see how the rest of the nation holds up after losing 70% of its military bases...

And yes, most of us did notice that the most 'needy' states as you call them have the highest number of military bases, highest rates of industrial growth, and attract folks wishing to escape the expensive rat race that is the Northeast, PNW, and West..

When the 2010 census rolls around, we'll see how the redistribution of electoral votes plays out, and we may see those 'needy Republican states' of the Sunbelt dominate politics .

actually, since northern california would like to secede from the rest of the state, and most of the water for kalifornia coming from someplace else. I think kalifornia would have a hard time surviving a week or 2.

Who says this is ALL about the South? Heres an idea, split CA in two, maybe a bit north of Fresno, and NV in two at about Beatty, Nor Cal and NorNV merge and the two Souths merge. We keep ALL our recources here in the north. LA and Vegas can fight over who gets to be the new capitol of the new 'southern merger' and we in the north can just keep ALL our recources. I'd cap off all the aquaducts heading south from up here for free. We keep all our power up here too. There's a small problem with San Fran there though maybe we can just wall it up and use it for a prison ala Escape from New York

Nevada & California are solid Blue states. Why would we want to separate from the United States with a Democratic president & congress? DUH! All Republicans in Nevada are strongly urged to move to Alabama to be among your kinfolk.

In California, the state devoid of Republicans, a little over 5 million people voted for McCain, against the 8 million for Obama. It was 412,000 vs. 533,000 in Obama's favor in Nevada.

Those two states are not as 'solid blue' as you would think. Both have voted Republican before. Nevada even voted for Bush in 2000, and 2004. California and Nevada also voted Republican in 1980, 1984, and 1988.

All it matters is who is in Oval office & unless you have forgotten it is a Democrat there as well as the president of the senate & the speaker of the house. You can count all the votes you want but it is the votes of the winner than count.

This is what you said... I disproved you. Instead of admitting it, you claim it does not matter:

Aside from the popular vote [that was 24% higher for Obama than McCain in California, for example] it is also the electoral college. And your point is, again?
