OK, I don't get it. Jay Z and company sang an ignorant song on a stage. Was Barak there when they sang this song?

OTOH, I didnt' hear McCain or Palin reprimand the commets that were said at their rallies while they were on the stage.

Conservatives, by definition, seek to maintain historical class distinctions - based on income, family, religion, orientation, race, etc. They like the way the country used to be, and rail against the multiculturalism and liberalism that represents change. Racists are strongly attracted to that message.

And contrary to what some very stupid posters here are saying - the question was why are racists attracted to the GOP. Not whether all GOP members are racist.

Why don't all you whiners start your own thread?

To be fair, McCain did stop one woman who was making the ignorant and laughable claim that President Obama was a Muslim.

Unfortunately, there are many here on C-D who have that woman's intelligence and class.

I will try my damnest not to make generalizations...however, I do recall a thread a few months ago about diversity. Every single person who was against it on that thread was a republican...well, according to me they are or at least a right-winger. Every single one.

I do remember that & I give him credit for that. As a person, I didn't hate McCain, I just don't like what his party stands for....that & I also did NOT like the emphasis on his VP nominee.

Oh yes - I thought I mentioned that in my other post...the woman who said "He's an Arab" If I didn't, I'll say it here. Yes that was very good that he stopped her, but wasn't hr comment after eyebrows were being raised at what was going on at those rallies?

How did you get that out of my post?

Wow..I'm speechless.

So many things seem to be coming down to definitions these days. Change the definitions of a few key words and a whole alternate reality springs into existence.

Yes Conservatives are what you say they are. Once we start claiming a word means anything that supports our argument we don't have a language anymore, just a series of grunts and whistles.

SHS is a health hazard and irrelevant for the topic at hand.

Regarding the MC (multiculturalism) issue, I'm all for learning about other cultures and co-existing peacefully. What I'm against is how MC does not promote unity and shared values among Americans, something we desperately need today. Not all cultural practices are equal and should be promoted. We need to come to some consensus and unity or else America would not survive. I'm not saying we all should adopt "white" values, whatever the heck that means, but we should all strive for common ground and not focus so much on "diversity" but more on "unity"

The very word "conservative" suggest to maintain a status quo. Unfortunetly, for many white americans, that means a desire to reset America's racial clock back to when being white was all that mattered. You see this mentality on this very forum.

Most republicans I know are not fond of ethnic or racial diversity. That's why as someone of color as well as someone who is very libertarian, I feel there really is no one who speaks for me. I am pretty "right-wing" on most issues, but when you get down to it, most people are "right-wing" not becuase they believe in the constitution, but becuase they want to stop the trend of mixing with "Those People".

singed,

A Right Winger.
