How many $$ Billions have the taxpayer "invested" in this pop corn idea? What's the next gubmint failure in an attempt to control the universe, oh that's right, carbon credits yeah, that'll fix it.

Corn Ethanol Will Not Cut Greenhouse Gas Emissions
California regulators may rule that the biofuel is no better--and might be worse--than petroleum for solving climate change
California regulators, trying to assess the true environmental cost of corn ethanol, are poised to declare that the biofuel cannot help the state reduce global warming.
As they see it, corn is no better – and might be worse – than petroleum when total greenhouse gas emissions are considered.
Such a declaration, to be considered later this week by the California Air Resources Board, would be a considerable blow to the corn-ethanol industry in the United States.
Corn ethanol is also contributing to the dead zone.
Quote:
Proposed legislation that will expand corn-ethanol production in the United States will worsen the growing "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico and hurt marine fisheries, report researchers writing in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
The dead zone, an expanse of water so devoid of oxygen that sea life cannot live in it, partly results from the use of nitrogen-based fertilizers for corn crop. With corn acreage rapidly expanding in the U.S. as a result of subsidies for ethanol production, more fertilizers are ending up in the Gulf: each year an estimated 210 million pounds of excess nitrates are carried to the Gulf promoting massive algae blooms that fuel the hypoxia....
This corn ethanol boondoggle has be pushed primarily by rural GOP Congressmen in big Agriculture States.
This is your boys...not liberals
On the other hand, Cap and Trade systems work really well.....but you most likely don't want to do anything that would involve any sacrifice on your part....

Yes your article doesn't say a damn thing about what his "dream team" has done now that they control the Executive Branch....pure speculation...In fact Obama has backed of his pro ethanol talk as most politicians do after the Iowa Caucuses.

In 2000, McCain ran for president and reiterated his longstanding opposition to ethanol subsidies. Though it crippled his chances in Iowa, he argued that ethanol was a wasteful giveaway. A recent study in the journal Science has shown that when you take all impacts into consideration, ethanol consumption increases greenhouse gas emissions compared with regular gasoline. Unlike, say, Barack Obama, McCain still opposes ethanol subsidies.
That's your dog whistle/code words for do-gooder liberals wanting to clean up the enviroment but making things worse.
Well that's not what happened.
Is was big agriculture lobbyists in DC using big money to sway the votes of rural Senators and House Members. Special Interests. Big Corporations.
Don't try and pin this on the Sierra Club.....This is GOP style big money politics that favors corporations over Americans.
And yes for the record there are bad Democrats that support this.....but at least they are not 100% rotton to the core like the GOP is.
