The Bush administration did not inform Congress that it had waterboarded detainees in classified briefings, after the agency had already done so, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) charged Thursday.

Pelosi told reporters that the administration officials only told her and those in a classified briefing in the fall of 2002 that they believed they had the legal authority to do so, based on Office of Legal Counsel memos which have recently been released by the Obama administration.

Sorry Duke..she's not correct. In 2002 the White House Legal council issued a memorandum that said waterboarding is not torture. "They" decided that torture was only torture if it was as bad as organ failure. That pretty much says as long as they didn't kill the prisoner then it wasn't torture.

Nancy Pelosi is a liar. If you didn't believe it before, you should believe it now. There is overwhelming proof that she is lying to her constituents. The silence from the other members of Congress who were briefed at the same time she was is telling the truth for her.

If she can dish out the blame on others, she better be prepared to spoon up a bit of the blame herself.

Technically Pelosi is correct, Congress was not notified because Congress, as point of law does not need to be notified that legal procedures were taking place for the purpose of gathering information. This however does not mean that Pelosi was unaware. There were 6 members of congress that knew about this, 4 were Democrats, 2 Republicans.

The lawmakers who held oversight roles during the period included Pelosi and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), as well as Rep. Porter J. Goss (R-Fla.) and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan).

Here is a 2007 story talking about Pelosi touring the facilities in 2002.

This woman is an embarrassment to the country. People of the San Francisco area, do the right thing and force her into retirement in 2010. The nation will be watching you.

Which makes it funny that they continue to proclaim to want to go after Bush. Anyone with half a brain knows that if they do, Bush would be found not guilty, after all its a legal procedure, or evidence would come out that these other individuals were also aware.. But I guess it makes good tv coverage, Obama will cause an uproar, and then come out and proclaim he'll forgive for the betterment of the nation, even though there was nothing there to begin with..
