Exactly. You have to approach interrogation objectively and see the big picture. Patience and professionalism are key. Sleep deprivation and discomfort take time, but many have stated are far more effective and keep the relationship between interrogator and interrogated at bay. Yes, there is a "relationship" of sorts, that is where the defeat of torture comes in as the torturer loses control of their humanity and distance from the tortured. The guys at AG were young, dumb, and full of ---, and the mere fact they were pictured showing off in front of the camera was a testament to the crudeness (and likely ineffectiveness) of our current interrogation procedures.

For all the internet tough guy armchair Rambos out there, try it like Hitchens did, record it (you anonymity will be preserved since you're wearing a mask), put it on YT, and tell us it was to do afterwards and you will have my utmost respect concerning the issue. Until then:

Some have tried going the "other way" of torture, but like you say, "Yes, there is a "relationship" of sorts, that is where the defeat of torture comes in as the torturer loses control of their [stupidity] and distance from the tortured."

I can't believe that no one has said the obvious: Guantanimo Bay and other military interrogators aren't vigilantes, they don't kill mercilessly, they are just trying to get information to prevent terror attacks.

But most know that Democrats' worse nightmare is the military so the need to demonize them by equating them to the very terrorists that they are protecting you from. To say people who kidnapped a reporter and killed him because he was an American and a Jew is the same as a soldier questioning a terrorist is downright insulting.

I really hope that OP isn't American, if he is, he owes a huge apology for his asinine and universally offensive beliefs

Not the question being asked. Thanks for changing the subject because you can't answer the original question.

You jingoists owe all of us an apology for making this country universally hated, and with good reason.

So we just keep asking them if they will give up some information...not too long because interviewing them too long could be seen as torture...having the lights on too long is torture, not giving them their koran, bible, yelling could be torture, etc..is torture, giving them western food could be torture..tell me would the Marriot help to get some information, and asking in a very sweet and nice way to give us please some information.....

Look at the smiling face of the pirate, he enjoys every minute of being in paradize even if it is called an US prison...everything better than being on a boat for days
