Hopefully, they will come back to a party that adheres to it's platform and ideology - people like Specter, Snowe and Collins belong on the dem side of the aisle.
I happen to live in the ONLY county in New England to vote Republican in the last election. The "My way or the highway" attitude of the current Republican party, along with the members of the past administration flapping their gums in the wind are alienating what's left of the moderates and the independants.
BTW,.. Snow and Collins are well liked here.
Incumbent Senator Arlen Specter trails former Congressman Pat Toomey by 21 points in an early look at Pennsylvania’s 2010 Republican Primary. Fifty-one percent (51%) of Republican voters statewide say they’d vote for Toomey while just 30% would support Specter.

I say good riddance!
However none of that is relevant anymore for now he needs only a majority of Democrats to get the nomination. Once that is secured in the general election will he still have that 30% Republican vote plus the Democratic and a majority of independents on top of that? If so that sounds like a good ole butt whipping.

Amen. The Democrats can have this skunk. He'll fit right in.
Old Uncle Joe would be proud of the inclination for party purges, the only problem is that the GOP is neither a vanguard party nor is it in power. And at the rate the Party is committing fratricide it won't be either for a long time to come.
I guess that being a lock step neocon is the best way to go if you're a republican, just ask Rick Santorum how well that works in Pennsylvania. I guess the Republican party only wants to represent hard right areas like the deep south.
