No..
But going through the physical to obtain a VISA might prevent some one who is sick with the flu from entering and passing it on to us.
Would you prefer no medical screening or back ground checks? Would you deny that they serve a useful purpose?

We need to secure the borders now and stop the flow of illegals across the border. This new flu virus is just one of the many problems that can result frmo illegal alien migration across the open borders.

NOBODY is screened for viruses when at a border.

When getting a Visa, yes. But you can get a virus after you get the screening done.

Does anyone honestly think if the borders were shut to keep out illegals we'd have no cases of the flu in the US ?

Mexico City is a travel hub..over 70K people pass through there. All it would take is one South American travelling to the US changing planes in Mexico City and then changing again in Chicacgo and leaving the plane in Canada and BOOM. No illegals involved.

Be more worried about the travellers who got on planes and flew to all points north.
Very good point, and I meant to mention that earlier. Travel restrictions should be issued for Mexico as well as beefed up security on the border. No legal immigrants should enter the country either, until the disease is brought under control. Travelers currently stuck in Mexico should be quarantined upon arrival until all doubts are put to rest about their health. Simple measures that could easily prevent a wide spread outbreak of this sickness. Seems simple enough to me, so why aren't we doing any of the things I mentioned?

You do realize that people can be infectious before any symptoms show up ?

Has it ever occurred to you that might change? That quarantine measures may be put in place in order to safeguard the health of the American people? After all, isn't that the duty of the CDC that is funded with US taxpayer dollars? To protect the health and welfare of Americans? The excuse that since there are probably already contagious people here, it does not matter if we allow in thousands more makes no sense.

People can be quarantined until we determine that they are not carrying the disease.

HELLO are you confused! Nobody is saying the VISA process will stop the flu. WE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN GET IT AFTERWARDS. The checkup is just a precautionay step to make sure we are not letting someone in who is already carrying a communicable disease.

We do not really screen anyone for diseases at the border or at the airports. However, people who are obviously very sick will be looked at by a doctor or possibly denied entry. I think we should look at everyone but I understand it is difficult because there are too many people.

You do not see a problem with a wide open border where millions of people can just go across without any checkups???? That is why we need to secure the border.

And you would quarantine every traveler in the world (pandemics are global) for about 2 weeks to determine they are not sick ?
Where would you put all these people ?

Not a realistic solution. People need to be aware and take precautions and not be stupid and go out anyway feeling sick.

How many people that you know get sick and go to work or school anyway when they should be home taking care of themselves ?
