I like this move also, but Obama has undermined it by:

1. Reversing his stance on habeas corpus which is now a continuation of the Bush administration. In essence, Obama wants the power to arrest someone in one country, imprison them in another country, and never have charges be brought against them.
Obama and habeas corpus -- then and now - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

2. By declaring that torture did take place, but does not want to prosecute either those who carried out the torture or those who devised the policy. In essence, Obama is implying that the US can break international law, in which we agreed to, with impunity.

I don't listen to Rush, but I don't see how Republicans can call Obama a socialist while praising Bush--who has oversaw the largest expansion of government in modern history with a Republican controlled House for 6 years. Obama and the Dems may eclipse the growth of the government by Bush and the Reps, but to chastise Obama as a socialist while giving Bush praise is certainly a breach from reality.

They said negotiations wouldn't work. Some jerks even said to bomb Somalia. So I asked these people how they suggest he free Captain Phillips. When the SEALs rescued the Captain safely, Obama was called a murderer. I guess the people who said Obama was too soft but critiziced him for giving orders to shoot to kill, felt we could beam up the Captain?

I'm not sure how releasing the documents you mentioned endanger us. It proves we do not tolerate immoral and illegal behavior, which will help the United States get back the trust from other nations we lost during the Bush Administration.
It is not as though pirates have not been taking vessels and holding them and the passengers for ransom.

They were teenage pirates, in a little boat, bobbing around in the ocean. Were there no military contingency plans for something like this? Of course there were, but 0bama's knee jerk reaction was to interfere and take over control. 0bama made us look weak, indecisive and it made our military look unable to control a few teenage pirates.

Releasing the extent to which we will, or will not go to interrogate terrorists, and the inner most thoughts and legal concerns about our techniques, was a huge gift to not just terrorists, but to all our enemies today and in the future. It was the same thing as handing over our entire playbook to all of our the opposing teams as a gift at the beginning of the football season, much less just before the Super Bowl.

Nonsense. That we used waterboarding was already well known in the world. Regardless, knowing what awaits after getting caught has no effect on national security. Indeed, signs that read "Screw the dog. Beware of owner" are used to enhance security.

Gitmo has not yet been closed.

Knee jerk reactions? Too funny.

If Ms. Cleo and crystal balls appeal to you, have at it.
No, GITMO is not closed, and apparently since it is going to be closed, and there is no where else to put terrorists. 0bama will just release them in your home town, or maybe a hotel near you. LINK

In fact you should have your mayor request them be released in your town, since you do not see a threat.

A lot more was released to the world then just waterboarding. They released that actual documents, complete with type fonts, and format, so now any propaganda center can doctor up their version of a Dan Rathergate, George Bush Air National Guard memo, and pass it off as an actual CIA document.

You forgot a word or 2. ---- a few teenage pirates with AK-47s.

I have to laugh. Why are people who dislike Obama disagreeing with the crew? Don't you think they have more firsthand knowledge of what happened?

"It feels great to be home," Murphy said. "With the exception of Rush Limbaugh who is trying to make this into a race issue. It's disgusting."

"The president did the right thing. It's a war. It's about good versus evil. And what you (Limbaugh) said is evil, that is hate speech. I won't tolerate it," Murphy said.

Maybe if your really nice to the POTUS you can play with his TOTUS.

The government should just nationalize every single business in the USA. Who needs a free market society anyway? Then you could have a job for life, guaranteed. No worries and free dope on Fridays...

The difference is that the team will continue to play football and use the same strategies.

Closing Guantanamo is a great idea, I was so concerned France might look down it's nose at us.

I understand they are moving all the Guantanamo prisoners to Minnesota.
