It's stuff like this that is the reason George Washington didn't want to be a part of this "party system". It only serves to divide rather than unite.

The Democrats are the moderate party these days. Maybe you didn't notice that most Americans have been voting for them. They represent mainstream America. If they didn't, they wouldn't be winning elections. It's really simple if you look at it that way.

Out here in CO, the birthplace of the Libertarian Party, they are opposed to public schools. Not my "type".
