Ha, well thanks for rubbing it in.

To the OP: You should know better, it's MARRIAGE EQUALITY not GAY MARRIAGE.

Washington DC voted 12-1 yesterday to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states.

The US Congress has control over all of DC's issues, so they can take up a vote in the next 30 days to over-rule the bill. Of course the democrats and republicans are being very silent on the issue, because they want to keep it at a state level.

DC is thinking about performing gay marriage, which would terrify the congress, because they would have HUGE pressure to act on the issue.

Leave it to the States... I'm glad that they are deciding on their own... now, we have to repeal DOMA... the federal government should recognize a marriage that a state authorizes. I think most conservatives (non-religious zealots) would agree with that even if they would vote against legalization in their own state.

I see New Hampshire is expected to vote this afternoon!?

It's expected to pass, although the governor has not stated if he will veto.

When it rains it pours....

I think this will boil over at some point and the US will have to accept gay marriage. First of all there's no reason not too, second the country will be too splintered on a fairly big issue, and third of all the US can't vote to take away these rights after they've spread so far. It would be VERY messy for the country.

There's just isn't a rational outcome of letting gay people marry that is SO negative that the US Government would find it necessary to take away those rights to millions of people after they have already acquired them. Look at the states that have accepted it - NOTHING "bad" has happened.

Life goes on. Live and let live.

Yes I voted for our gay marriage ban here in TX, but I am starting to reconsider my opinion on the matter.

I'm not necessarily sure whether marriage is a "civil right" or not, but do feel that anyone should be permitted to marry who they love.

While I like this post...I would replace every "gay marriage" with "marriage equality."

Excellent! Somehow I think Alabama will be long in coming, though.

Not trying to nitpick here but you voted for a gay marriage ban when you feel anyone should be permitted to marry who they love?
