What's up with blacks/Latinos? (generation, drugs, weapon, racism)

As a black male, I'd like to know the answer to this question. Why is it that where ever there are large numbers of blacks or Latinos, you can expect higher crime rates, inferior schools, substandard housing, and a general lower quality of life?

Do not tell me it has to do with lack of education, unfair practices, or historical events because even in Haiti (the only black run country outside of those in Africa), and many central/South American countries, including Mexico, these same phenomena are observable.

Additionally, why do minorities, especially blacks, refuse to assimilate into American society? From where I see it, the black "community" is deteriorating at an alarming rate and has been for a very long time, with no signs of getting better.

Thoughts? Opinions?

those two countries you mentioned (Haiti and Mexico) are both poor countries, and poverty always tends to breed ignorance and crime among people in all races... where I live there are black communities where I couldn't afford a house if I shared it with ten other people and majority-white areas that I would be afraid to drive through late at night, but it all boils down to poverty. Now, why are black people and Latinos poorer than white people on average? I don't know... black people were largely excluded from the top and middle tiers of the American economy up until about a generation or two ago, and most Latino countries are coming from poor countries... why are those countries poor, though? Pretty complex question and I don't really have an answer.

Well for black folks, alot of it is contributed to the breakdown of the family unit and drugs. Can't speak for Latinos though. BTW, since you are "black", do you think you are less intelligent than whites? Or do you just happen to conveniently be the exception.

I can't comment on hispanic communities, since I really haven't spent much time around them. But I've always felt that the gap between blacks and whites/asians has a lot to do with the remnants of slavery.

In the little town I grew up in, blacks still lived clustered together in small, rural trailer parks, which were often the same neighborhood their families had been since the Civil War reconstruction period. The living conditions were downright pitiful, something the average American probably doesn't think still exists in our country today.

As to why they don't assimilate into the more mainstream culture, I believe that there is a mutual rejection. Meaning, little black kids don't want to act white - in fact, they face peer pressure to do just the opposite. And the little white kids would be reluctant to accept them anyway, which just creates a really stagnant situation. Sometimes this can be interpreted by outsiders as "hate" or "bias", but it's really more like a stalemate between both sides.

I grew up in a poor, rural area of the south, so my point of view is skewed for that sort of area. If you are from, say, Seattle or upstate New York, you probably see things differently.

No! There are some that believe that because of European colonialism/dominance, and U.S./European first world status, that whites are smarter.

Historically, Africans are similar to Native Americans. Both had established residency on a fairly large continent without the need or desire that Europe had to explore overseas. Also, because of natural resources that differed from Europe, the need to mechanize was less. Africans and Native Americans were geniuses on utilizing natural resources of their land to exist. Europe had such a broad gap between the class systems, that some were living in luxury that separated themselves from having to do any labor for survival. The poor were subject to very squalid conditions. Europe was also subject to various plagues, and various problems that occurred through a fairly large populous on a fairly small continent. So mechanization, and the need to expand was more of a necessity. This of course brought about tremendous naval skills and weaponry.

I know. I'm just tired of not seeing more intelligent blacks like me represented in mainstream society. I don't know what's wrong with the picture, but for this to be 2007, and for blacks to still be in the situation they are is unfortunate.

Let's compare young vs. older blacks, a lot has to do with what they have chosen to do with there lives, blame everything on everybody but themselves, they may try to better themselves but one little thing go wrong and yup back to putting the blame off on others, i've been around blacks all my life with most of it being fairly close to east st louis & if you really look at blacks your older people had respect for themselves and others, carried themselves with pride & you didn't have most of the white black bullsh*t as you see today, few had much education, but they dressed well, had jobs & held those jobs, they were the type that would help anyone in time of need whether black, white or what ever.

But something happened in between those older and now the younger, was it the economy probably not, drugs could be, but the younger ones have the they owe us, we don't have to put up with this, uppity attitude, they dress like who knows what, have no respect what so ever for no one and wonder why they never get a break in life, there are no advancements for people like that but still they expect for it all to be handed to them on a silver platter, if you look at some of the younger black attitudes you will see that all of the things older blacks have worked hard for the younger are tearing it apart, destroying it all bit by bit and don't even realize it until one day that that has been built they will look back for and it will be gone finding themselves going backwards instead of overcoming & bettering themselves.

They want to cry about jobs but don't actually want to do the work, then if they do land a job let something go wrong and the first thing they want to do is cry racism & threaten the employer with a lawsuit or call in the naacp, some but not all of that crap went on with the older blacks but very little, they were poor, low paying jobs, but they didn't live in the super slums & deal drugs all day & nite long, they kept there homes up nice and prided themselves in what they had no matter how little it was and the whole time not once ever crying on somebodies shoulder of oh how bad i got it, if the younger ones want to they can pull themselves up out of the projects and become something, some will make it & some won't but the ones that don't try have no one to blame but themselves so they choose to gather in groups of feel sorry for me & turn to the easy way of doing anything but getting that job that just may take them from projects & nothing to home ownership & something, the ones that distance themselves from the feel sorry for me crowds are the ones who make it in life, it's not a black issue but a self esteem & work at it issue.

There has been a number of studies about the average IQ of people who come from various groups. Have you heard about the book, "the bell curve"? People who come from Africa tend to have a lower IQ than Whites and Asians. The result is causing a crisis in the Black community.

While there are many smart people who trace their ethnic background to Africa and the Indian cultures in Latin America, in general many experts say that a lower IQ will make their people suffer.

Add in a culture that does not reward education, and encourages single parents and children born to teenagers, and there are problems.
