I remember a few years ago, the military holding training exercises in our neighborhood.. No notice in advance..
Justification for not telling people, they wanted to see peoples reactions and learn how to deal with it if they were in the enemies city..
Ok, I bought that excuse, but this is like the UFO stories, if you classify everything, (in this case photos), people will just assume there is something to hide and talk about it endlessly.
Some of you honestly think that the president knew that they were flying one of the Air Force One planes over NYC for a photo op? Why would the president have anything to do with that?
Ok I can give you that the sound of a large jet and a military aircraft might sound scary... but when you go outside and see what appears to be Air Force One... give me a break. This is a slow news day manifestation and it needs to go away. If you want to be outraged why not ask why $500,000 was wasted to take pictures of the plane over the statue of Liberty?..... that is what should bring the people into the streets!
Does anyone actually believe that this man orchestrated this entire event and Bammy had no idea? Please! He is simply their pawn.
If he did, then that really should make us all question our security. If Bammy can't control his own plane, then how can he run a country?
Ah, it isn't his own plane, in fact the aircraft isn't even Air Force One until the President is aboard. The fact is there are two matching VC-25A's flown by the 89th Airlift Group which in charge of transport and logistics for the President, Vice-President and other senior officials.
Mr. Caldera was not only responsible for the the Presidential Airlift Group, but the White House Communications Agency, Camp David, Marine Helicopter Squadron One, Presidential Food Service, and the White House Transportation Agency. I feel fairly confident in stating that when ever some activity not directly involving the President takes place in any one of those departments under the White House Military Office, such as photo ops, the decision to do so doesn't wind up on even the Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff's desk much less the Presidents.

Its very hard to distinguish a 747 from a VC-25 flying through the sky, and almost impossible to see official presidential seals on the plane in the sky, especially since the logos are on the side of the plane, and people standing on the ground cant see it.
And yes, the cost is the biggest criticism and why it continues to be news, and leads me to ask, if it cost $380K to fly the plane from DC to NYC, then whats it cost to fly across the country.
You know, the whole incident could have been minimized if the government had just confessed to a mistake and come clean in the first place. You know, released the photos, been truthful with the people. The way that they initially handled it made it a much bigger deal than it needed to be.
Here is the $300,000 photo. It's pretty nice. I don't know if it were worth that much money or alarm.
