Russia is clearly trying to bring back Soviet style totalitarianism, led by Vlad Putin. The US managed to hold off Communism under Roland Reagan, but can we keep Russia from falling back to Communism under Barack Obama. Does he even care to do anything substantial?
Some say that Reagan used pure diplomacy, but that is completely wrong. He orchestrated the fall of the Russian economy, and convinced Russians that they would be better under a Capitalist Democracy (and he was right!)
Does Obama have what it takes to hold off the Red Sea Rising once again?
Why the hell would we do anything? Russia is not nearly the nemesis that the old Soviet Union was... stop being stuck in the 80's already... what should we do, triple our defense budget so we can scare Russia? Thread FAIL.
Because we are superior and others are always wrong/ (sarcasm off).
I think the United States Government needs to be more open to things and stop thinking that their the "Supreme Power" and that every country must answer to them.
Russia is now communist because they had a military parade?
Why do you say that?
Actually, the changes within Russia were too abrupt and cost a lot of economic pain as people lost jobs, veterans were virtually begging, etc. Many there started to long for the "good old days" - thinking that it would solve their problems. Putin recognized that the changes were too swift and played to his base by backtracking on some of these changes. He also used his (parital) curbs on democray to get rid of some of his opponents. Plus, the drop in oil prices has them in a serious economic pickle with the Russian budget showing a deficit for the first time in the last few years.
