This just gets sillier by the day, my-oh-my it does. Too funny for the man who promised hope and change, and getting out of Iraq NOW, and bringing all the troops home NOW!

It's a small irony of history that Gen. David Petraeus, attacked by the left for his role in revitalizing the Bush administration's effort in Iraq, is now being asked by a Democratic president to do much the same thing in Afghanistan.

The Centcom commander intends to apply the same counterinsurgency tactics he developed in Iraq, but Afghanistan will be in many ways a tougher fight.
Note Mr. Ignatius' statement that General Petraeus is being "asked" to carry his successes in Iraq over to Afghanistan, by a Democrat, no less. "Asked?" Vas is das? When one is a CinC, one doesn't ask for anything from subordinates, one orders.

I guess the realities of life are beginning to show full-force upon Mr. Obama, and perhaps, just perhaps, maybe he is seeing that there's more to fighting to win than just using a lil diplomacy here and there.

By firing Bush's appoint overall commander? That's like arguing that Obama is pursuing Bush's FEMA policy for hurricane relief except Obama fired Brownie!
If Obama is following Bush's policy in Afghanistan, why didn't Bush send more troops there to begin with? The war in Afghanistan has been going on a bit longer than the one in Iraq, methinks.
