Obama recognizes that, once the markets recover, the increased tax revenue will begin paying down this deficit. That is what he has committed himself to and that is what I hold him to.

So why wait so long to get the majority of the stimulus money spent? Hardly any of it has been spent and they are already calling for the turnaround.

No s*** Sherlock. Will this guy ever learn. More spin, he will not admit that his massive spending is at the root of this. More OTJ training is needed.
Wow....so Obama now agrees with the beliefs of the people who held the Tea Parties.

compulsive spender -- someone that creates more debt
with no intention of paying it or plan to pay down the debt they have already created.
we have paid trillions to delay payment and made not even min payments on what we owe.
we laughed when the soviets went broke.

Obama announces he's found a Christian church in DC - AFTER he makes anti-Christian maneuvers (abortion funding, stem-cell research, etc.)

Obama announces that we can't continue on the same path of deficit spending - AFTER he spends more money than all U.S. Presidents combined.

This guy is the king of the ole' bait and switch. Thankfully I still have a little dignity by not voting for this chump. His followers are just plain stupefied and he's making a mockery of them at every turn.

I don't see Bush's bailout as part of the problem. He knew what had to happen in much the way FDR knew what had to happen when the markets collapsed. It's a dance - when the markets work, government needs to step aside. When the markets fail from greed and ignorance, government needs to step in.

If you've ever worked in government, though, it's pretty obvious that a 1-term senator has as much control over the workings of the country as Bob Barker.

At the end of the day, it's good to be concerned about the sudden increase in debt. I just keep him to his word that he will address it before his term's over. If, for no other reason, he must know he won't get re-elected if he doesn't.

I really have no clue anymore as to what is going on in this man's mind.

One day he releases top secret CIA papers with details on interrogations, instead of just just telling the CIA and intelligence community not to use enhanced interrogations anymore, the next day releasing photos would be too damaging to national security, and instead tells the CIA not to abuse prisoners anymore.

Now he quadruples the nation's debt, and then tells us its unsustainable, while simultaneously asking for billions more in spending.

Quote:
The White House Office of Management and Budget also projected next year’s budget will end up at $3.59 trillion, compared with the $3.55 trillion it estimated previously.

Two weeks ago, the president proposed $17 billion in budget cuts, with plans to eliminate or reduce 121 federal programs. Republicans ridiculed the amount, saying that it represented one-half of 1 percent of the entire budget. They noted that Obama is seeking an $81 billion increase in other spending.
I ask you, what percentage is $17 billion out of $3,590 billion, again?

So when inflation kicks in hard, and it clobbers everyone, including the very poor, what will 0bama do then, use the crisis of inflation to claim he needs to raise more taxes to stimulate the economy? But of course he will, since he just stated we cannot borrow any more money, it can only come from one other place - you and me. Then Biden will make his speech about us all having to step up, and do the patriotic thing, by paying more in taxes.

Our children and grandchildren will be working all of their lives to hand over their hard earned income to pay off the loans from foreign countries, that 0bama and the democrats are forcing our country to take. And all to prop up banks and businesses that mismanaged their financial affairs, which will probably not even be in existence any more.

1. Christ never spoke of abortions or stem-cells. It is only a certain conservative sect of Christians that agree with your assessment. Most who call themselves Christians do not (keeping in mind over 75% of the U.S. identifies as Christian and about 25% identify as conservative evangelical, with many of the younger generation branching off from the political ideology of their predecessors).

One could just as easily say Bush was an anti-Christian president for breaking so many of the 10 Commandments, including lying, stealing, and killing. Likewise, Obama has restored Christian values to the White House by ending a frivolous war while calling for transparency and honesty.

2. Like every president before him, Obama spent in response to failed markets. His recent actions - cutting superfluous budgetary items and adjusting regulations suggest he will ultimately prove to be pretty fiscally moderate. He inherited the opposite problem that Reagan did, which was too much government interference. Reagans solutions were perfect for his time, and perhaps Obama's will prove likewise for our time.
