Majority of people in jail come from single parents
majority of child-runaways come from single parents
majority of parents who kill their own children are single
majority of welfare recipitents are single mothers....
Also, the same conservatives who object to single mothers raising kids should be all for a couple of the same sex raising kids, considering that two parents are almost always better than one for a child.
I know plenty of couples that are unmarried but have been together for MANY, MANY years, and raised perfectly happy children. I also know of even more people who have witnessed their parents very unhappy and dirty divorces.
I guess we need to verify what the OP means by unwed parents. Because if they are living together and raising the child as a family it's totally different than being a single mother...
And divorce is obviously a bad thing too....children from divorce dont end up being as well off as people from successful families.
I think the success of a society depends on success of a family. Look at how america had lower divorce rates as well as lower crime rates...
Just curious, what is your solution to the problem? I know you are not for single mothers or gay couples, and do not seem to believe either situation is beneficial, but how do you foresee reducing the instances or unwanted children and or single parents households?
^wearing a condom and using birth control!!! And if you have already messed up, give it up for adoption (babies are always wanted, even ones with disabilities...and adopted babies end up more well-off than non-adopted children. But im against gay parents because it is hard for their children). Or have a shot-gun wedding
Until society starts making males responsible for depositing their semen and producing offspring, the effect on single women being mothers is MUTE!
Let's turn the tables and put the responsibility on members of the male gender.
