Wish I had noticed this earlier. Would have recommended that a lot of people just GO there. Live off that society, leave the father out of the picture...what's he anyway..a sperm donor??? If you think kids don't need 2 parents, take a good look at society, and don't leave any group out. Children need the love, discipline and security of a mother AND a father that's there to share in their raising ...if you don't think so..you're more than just BLIND>

definitely lack of a dad is a bad influence on the kid, huge stat bank on this fact-- its called state prison. one of the false prophets of the 60's was the gloria steinem assertion that men are an unnecessary element in the home. avalanche of data has contradicted this---- brought out during the late 1990's--- yet the false belief persists.

This phenomena is a result of the tax code punishing families. The tax breaks for filing single are not much less beneficial than filing jointly. As a matter of fact, being married has become such a wealth destroyer in this country. Divorces cost money, losing 50% of your assets if you live in a community property state, alimony, child support, etc. The fact is that you can do everything a married couple can do with no penalties. This is why it is becoming so epidemic. If they want to encourage the family unit in this country, married women should be paid a salary by the government for being a stay-at-home mom. Remove divorce privaledges unless there is physical abuse. Marriage has to mean something for people to respect it. Women today marry, pop out a child, marry again, pop out another child and then people have the audacity to condemn poligamists? The result is the same... a bunch of half brothers and half sisters.

Bad because children need both a mother and father to grow up emotionally healthy. I was raised by a loving mother and even I had challenges growing up without a father figure.
