This is the performance of our National Anthem in 2002-Salt Lake City sang by the Mormon Choir. It was beautiful and the way it was recorded really made me feel happy and proud!
Unfortunately there's no clip on YouTube of Patti Smith performing "The Star Spangled Banner" - actually in a very reverent and respectful fashion and not making fun of it at all, with an American flag and a picture of Pope John Paul II behind her and the band.
I saw Hendrix perform it at the Second Atlanta Pop Festival in Byron, Georgia on July 4th, 1970. While he was playing, the fireworks display started behind the stage. Hard to beat, and the crowd of a half million or so went wild. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life.
