One minor problem: NONE of you SEND your KIDS anywhere. They are ADULTS when they join the military and those ADULTS signed on the dotted line accordingly.

There will always be the unpatriotic military dodging elite types. Do you really raise your kids according to the military status of elites and their children?

There was a war going on while Obama was in Harvard, so that answers your second question.

And whether the discussion about Obama's military registration is "specious" was not the question. "Specious" is an opinion, one which others question. There are some who believe Obama's registration was forged. Personally, I could care less, for I take him to be just as he appears, an empty suit.
For someone who could care less about Obama you evidently have accessed an awful lot of bottom-feeder speculation about him, some of which you tried to float in your earlier posts.

Most of the troops don't want the children of the elite in the field along side them. They are too soft to be any good, are not tough enough to withstand the rigors of war and would end up having to be babysat by the tougher troops who can take the blood and guts.

When our military starts accepting people like Obama, I'll start buying Russian war bonds.

Why do we send people to war? Well, so you can ***** and whine about it on the internet instead of being thrown into gulags, concentration camps and incinerators. Or are you one of those folks down on your knees begging that you'll do anything if they'll just let you live.

Do yourself a favor and learn about history. Once you have a decent understanding of that the future and the events that unfold make a lot more sense plus you'll save yourself in the future from coming right out and saying you don't have a clue about history.

First off, who in the hell are these "elites"? Are they a race of reptilioid aliens like in the movie They Live, who control the human race from a secret lair?

Does attending a school like Yale, Harvard, Brown, Columbia, etc... make one "elite" or does it mean you happen to be fortunate enough to either have a high enough gpa, a scholarship, or a from a family that could afford it AND had one of the two prior criteria?

One of the greatest problems this country has is that it equates a higher education to a negative connotation. Sweet Jesus I wish more people in America would strive towards this 'elite' stuff instead of Archie Bunker.

However if you are talking about those people who were elected into office who voted in favor of military intervention in Iraq or Afghanistan, then I suggest you take your protest to the poll next election cycle. Guess what, not only did members from both political parties vote for this, so too did a bunch of political figures who attended non-elite schools like University of Florida or came from non-elite families.

Another broad and sweeping, generalized thread (check)

Next...

I hope your kidding.. Tons of people in their mid-40s today have a history of military service. The 80s was a prime time to join, expansion of pay and benefits, a lot more job training geared towards the civilian workforce, and women being allowed to join. Downsizing, seriously? You must be thinking post-Desert Storm in the 90s.

As for no conflicts post-Vietnam, here are a few US military interventions:
1976 Lebanon
1980 Eagle Claw in Iran
1981 El Salvador
1981 Libya
1982 Sinai
1982-1983 Lebanon
1983 Grenada
1983 Honduras
1984 Iran
1986 Libya
1987-1988 Persian Gulf
1988-1990 Panama
1989 Libya
1990 Saudi Arabia
1991 Persian Gulf War
1991 Zaire
1992 Sierra Leone
1992-1995 Somalia
1992-1996 Bosnia
1993-1994 Macedonia
1994-1995 Haiti
1996 Liberia
1997 Cambodia
1998 Iraq
1998 Afghanistan
1998 Sudan
1999 Serbia

There are a lot more incidents listed in my book, but I tried to limit the list to operations where bombings, troop deployments or similar mobilizations occurred.

It seems that liberals here dont want their own children to decide if the cause is worth dying for. You do understand we have a VOLUNTEER military dont you?
