Are we *really* going to play the myopic semantics game on this?

This is a ridiculous argument. The term homosexual is a clinical, sterile term, its easier to just say "Gay". They mean the same thing so it isnt like calling a dog a cat. Good grief.

Perhaps your unable to share my experience due to your privileged background. But when you say racist, I hear "whitey", and when you say homophobe, I hear "Nazi". I guess you are ignorant of the impact your slurs have on those you attack with your blind hate. I would like to be able to engage in a civil discussion without you spewing your blind anti-white heterosexual male bigotry.

The other point I would like to make is that if you don't have an intelligent response, please post elsewhere.

Nooowwww we are getting somewhere.

This is where it would be beneficial for you to consider that what you say to gay people and what you say about gay people ALSO has impact on them. That it ALSO feels like blind hate when you judge us.

This is where the lesson of "put yourself in my shoes" should be learned.

As far as my privileged background, you don't know who I am, where I come from, or what I have been through. The only thing that you DO know for sure about me is that I am a Gay woman (as stated on these forums) and that I am openly discriminated against when I am not protected by hate-crime laws in some states and cannot marry the partner that I have been with for 10 years.

So lets get to the real deal, shall we?

Of course anyone who does that would get branded as a "homophobe."
Yes, that would be a derogatory term used by ignorant people (but something tells me that you already know that this is a derogatory term)

Much like calling straight people "breeders" would be considered derogatory.

It really is simple human decency to just show a tiny amount of respect to people and not resort to juvenile name-calling just because you dont like their sexual habits.

I am sorry but I disagree with you one this. I could really care less if your gay or straight or what color your skin is. This country will never be Liberty and justice for all.

why? Because we are all so different, what is right and okay for one is wrong and bad for another. Until we can all just live and let live we area all ****ed. For instance, the war on drugs...this is a joke. More innocent lives are taken each year because drugs are illegal. I say make everything legal to use just make the same rules that apply to alcohol apply to drugs. Hell alcohol is a manufactured drug.

Anyways...This county will never be what you claim it is soon to be. We can only do this when we start working together and working with our governments both foreign and domestic. When you can look at another person and just see another person with out classifying them first by race, religion, sex, upbringing, social status or any other label, that is when this county will be liberty and justice for all.

I think it is funny how everyone wants to be accepted no matter what their race, religion, sex preference, lifestyle, etc. Yet they are unwilling to accept someone else race, religion, sexual preference, lifestyle, etc.

You want to be free? you want to stop discrimination? Stop looking and caring about what others are doing and start focusing on what you are doing. If you think that you are 100% perfect because of your race, religion, sexual orientation, lifestyle, sex, or any other social classification, do us all a favor and walk of a cliff.

Not always possible, but still good advice. If all we were talking about were people's opinions, then yeah, it wouldn't matter so much, but the problem is that many people - especially social conservatives - want to legally restrict others from doing what they want to do.

If certain groups had their way, pornography would be illegal, homosexuality would be reclassified as a mental illness, and creationism would be taught in schools as a valid scientific theory. Anyone who cares about individual freedoms shouldn't ignore them. They're quite serious.

Hey, If i can do it so can anyone else. All i care about is that I am free no one is going to stop me from being who i want, what i want, when I want. If I am not doing anything to hurt someone else then who gives a rats left nut. People should be less concerned with What I or you are doing and more concerned with what they are doing. If they are I feel sorry for them because when you care more about what others are doing and less about yourself, you are heading for a miserable place; and I am not talking about heaven or hell. At least once, we have all been mistreated due to our social markers, maybe because of your weight, skin, sex, religion, sexual orientation, upbrining, and even where you live. Nobody, likes being judged by those, hell no one likes being judged, so, simple solution....ready for it...STOP JUDGING OTHERS, STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT THE OTHER PERSON IS DOING, START FOCUSING ON YOURSELF. RIP YOURSELF OPEN AND HAVE A LOOK...WHAT MAKES YOU TICK.

We all have to realize that life doesn't play tag, leapfrog or any other games. Life it quite simple...you want to know the answer to the all powerful question of, "what's the meaning of life"...

...here it is...TO LIVE!

Everyone thinks life is too short....wake up! Living is the single longest thing you do, you do nothing longer.

I've already heard some homosexual marriage supporters now saying polygamy should be legal. Why should that be surprising? It's a pretty slippery slope.

That's true.

IMO, polygamy shouldn't be criminalized as it currently is, however the government should not recognize polygamous marriages.

The groups have the right to try and push whatever agenda they wish. We all have a say in the laws.

Do I want pornography to be illegal? No. Do I want homosexuality to be reclassified as a mental illness? No. Do I feel creationism should be taught in schools? No.

But.....I recognize that they have a right to attempt to make the law say whatever they please. Others have the right to work against their attempts.

First Amendment...they have the right to do so, without being taxed. Not so tolerant of those you disagree with, are you?
