He also had the flexibility to come to work with me on a regular basis and get real world experience and exposure. Many states have homeschool coops where they bring in experts or teachers in a given field to teach groups of kids. There are an amazing amount and range of curriculum available to teach kids with. Bottom line is homeschooling is not some hippies sitting around letting their kids do finger painting all day long, although I am sure there is some of that in places like california. Instead of being held hostage in some government school for 8 hours a day being subjected to some leftist union teacher with a bunch vagrant kids who's parents are both to busy working to really care about what their kidi s being taught, my son was out being exposed to a wide variety of things and people, you know the real world! This homeschooling experience is closer to the norm than the exception!
First of all this isn't even a partisan political issue so I'll disregard that part. But in fact you made my point. What you are holding back from your kid is excatly what he needs. Why rob him of that view point. Are you trying to grow a conservative? That kid will be what he's going to be. Preventing him from experiencing bad parents, kids, teachers with different ideals is horrible for his overall development. You cherrypicked what he was exposed to. Again the world isn't like that. The world isn't what you give him, it's what the world gives him and how he reacts to it. Problem is, he wont have any unguided experience. He wont be able to reach back for those experiences. He'll be looking back for you and you wont be there.

It's great that you can google some pro athletes and assume that they are well adjusted based on what you see on TV but we all know that's not always true. I never said home schooling couldn't be effective in some cases but you are robbing that child of something that is needed. Nobody has disputed that.

no, what you did say is that tim tebow didn't interact with his teammates for 3 years. you have yet to provide that link. I actually didn't google anything. I am a gator fan. I am sure tebow is not going to succeed in life. after 2 national championships and a heisman in 3 years, what's left to do?

Homeschooled child snatched from the jaws of life by religious mother : Greg Laden's Blog

Two sides to every coin. Fact is, we live in a civilized society that a kid needs to be socially equipped to deal with. Also, Michael Vick took his government education to a 100 Million Dollar contract.

Do you actually read the post's you respond to? Of course I am trying to grow a Conservative A Christian Conservative no less. Hello!! A kid going to the SAME school everyday, seeing the SAME teachers everyday ,with the SAME kids every day, not a whole lot of exposure or interaction. I will confess, many kids are much better at playing video games ,riding skate boards, smoking cigarettes, navigating porn on the internet, naming all the rappers, better than my son. I am ok with that.My son has a clear understanding of right and wrong, good and bad , black and white and He is well on his way to college and communicates just fine with other human beings.

I don't have a link, I recall watching an interview with one of his teammates. You can choose to believe it or not.

What's left to do..Live a real life outside of the protections of college.

now you are trying to back out? you said tebow did not interact with teammeates until 3 years into his career. provide the link.

vick also took that government education and 100 million dollar contract and ended up in debt. a homeschooled kid would probably be set for life. you sick of getting pwned yet?

What schools have the same teachers? You must live in a very small town. In most schools, kids progress to new teachers with each grade thus new teaching styles, perspectives and the like. That diversity is what cultivates creativity not a drone who can talk to people. Sounds like you created a robot. I truly hope your kid will be able to deal with all the porn, cigarettes, rappers, the internet and overall bullshet he's going to have to deal with in college and throughout his life. I'd rather know that my kid has already dealt with those things and that we've discussed them because he was under my roof not figuring it out on his own without me.
