As pressure mounts on North Korea over its provocative actions, the country abandons the truce that ended the Korean War and threatens the South with a "powerful military strike."
I do not think war with North Korea equals war with China. China is a very different country then it was under Mao. Mainly because the government is controlled by a Communist party that more resembles the ideals Zhou Enlai and Deng Xiaoping rather then Mao and the gang of four. As such they are not happy with North Korea's isolationist and hard line stances and have a love hate relationship with their Northeastern neighbor.
NK does have a lot of weapons pointed at Seoul. However, they know they are at a disadvantage if they use them. Essentially if NK starts a war there is no way they can win and rather then having China support them in this effort it is likely the exact opposite would happen. China would likely not only not aid the North Koreans, but be one of the principle nations that brings them to heel. Especially since the Chinese are more or less on the same page concerning the main points of NK policy as the Russians, South Koreans, Japanese, and Americans. With this in mind the it is doubtful North Koreans will start a war that they cannot win.
The big risk imho with North Korea is that they will sell fissile material to people that we do not want to have fissile material.
NK is run by a crazy guy. No bets from here on what he will do.
Agreed - not to mention he could be near death - which makes it even more scary because he has NOTHING to lose. I've said before, NK is turning out to be more of a problem than Iran. With Iran they have much more to lose in a major conflict- not so with NK run by this dimwit.
