Holder confirms states to have final say on use of drug for pain control.

Quote:
Supporters of programs to provide legal marijuana to patients with painful medical conditions are celebrating Attorney General Eric Holder’s statement this week that the Drug Enforcement Administration would end its raids on state-approved marijuana dispensaries.
DEA to end medical marijuana raids - More health news- msnbc.com

Though this article be somewhat dated, it is meant to show, in certain respects, that Federal law does not always trump state law.

State Sovereignty resolutions are popping up all over the country these days in an effort to wrest control from the Fed that in the beginning, rightfully belonged to the states in the first place.

States like Montana (guns, federal ID), California (Marijuana), Missouri (Abortion) are only a few of the examples in an ongoing effort to put the Fed back where it belongs, out of state matters.

Thanks to Eric Holder and the Obama Administration for stopping this outrageous attack on states' rights.

Absolutely.

Obama does know a thing or two when it comes to Constitutional Law.

This can be a good thing ... or not ... just depends on which side of the fence you are on.

All I can say is it is about time. Raids on state approved dispensaries up to this point were more or less acts of general thuggery. They would destroy state government property and haul off state employees to jail for doing their jobs. Not that they ever found a court that would convict them. Medical marijuana is overwhelmingly popular and has passed pretty much every referendum, except South Dakota, which it has been on the ballot recently. I am glad to see someone in the DEA is finally getting the message.

I'm waiting for the anti-Obama crowd to chime in with their (predictable) disapproval.

I'm a conservative middle of the road kind of guy, and I think it's too bad that more conservatives like myself can't give credit where credit is due.

I don't particularly care for Obama, but my not caring for the guy isn't going to keep me from giving the credit to him that he deserves.

Saw this a while back (or at least whisperings of it), I think that it's great. Good job.

Looks like no matter which guy we voted for, both sides have one thing in common - a sudden craving for twinkies

Good deal. Circumventing state's rights is wrong and I'm glad to hear this.
