Sorry this is crap, they don't own his car so they should not be able to tell him what he can or can't have on it. Disgusting that a Vet can't have pride in his service. Anyone who calls it tacky or over the top probably never served so would not get it.

If I were the Marine I would get some of my buddies over and tell the Board you can come take them down. A prefect case of people acting like their god because they are on the all mighty Condo board.

Don't sweat her. She is the same "genius" who once said she had photos of US troops raping Iraqi women. The photos turned out to be a pornographic sit however. Logic doesn't exist in her world.

No it is not fine, should have never been an issue to start with.

The guy was a wounded Vet and could have cost him his life. He earned the right to put the stickers on his car for the Marines for which he served.

Had they gone after all political stickers, that is an entirely different venue.

This, among a multitude of other resons, is why I'd never become a member of a homeowners association.

That's the issue.
Don't follow the rules, live with the consequences.

Most military members aren't the altruistic characters so many of you seem to think.
For most, it's a job, a paycheck, housing, free medical, etc.
They're no different from most of us.

They're not special, they just chose the military as a job.
Oh but they are! Lets see you go be under fire in 120 degree heat! just for one!
Most people today would not run across the street to save anyone let alone in the conditions our military are in wantingly and knowingly still enlisting to protect your sorry ass!

Let me preface this with--- most of the ppl on here are wonderful, and have shown respect and support for our military but to chielgirl and others
oh by the way...free medical for the military is a thing of the past! Yes, for the most part we(6yrs navy, dh retired after 20 yrs in the navy) pay less than the average civilian health care, but we also put our lives on the line for the time we were in, and the military can call us back up for a certain amount of time after we get out too.
I get so tire of everyone pointing out free medical(see above),
free housing(we get inspected whenever housing feels like it, and most of the time the homes are 40 or more years old with "make do" repairs), base exchange privileges(no taxes but we have a 5% surcharge for upkeep of exsisting and building of new facilities),
money for college(you have 10yrs to use it or loose it)
and all the other stuff people who have never served feel like throwing up at us.
I do not understand how you can live in the U.S. and tear down our military. Yes, I know you have freedom of expression, but guess who put their lives in harms way so you could have it?
I lived in the Philippians, when my dad was in the Air Force, and they could be imprisoned for saying anything against the government. Americans were warned not to wear clothing that portrayed drugs, or you could be put on international hold, and kept in a cell indefinitely.

I could go on, but I think I would just be "preaching to the choir."

A Dallas home owner's association (HOA) told Frank Larison, a disabled veteran with more than 14 years of service, that he had to remove seven Marine Corps decals from his car because they constitute an advertisement and that violates HOA rules.

Fox 4 reports that "Otherwise, the homeowners association for The Woodlands II on The Creek -- where Larison has lived for eight years --- says in a letter it will tow the car at Larison's expense. The board also threatens to fine him $50 for any future incident."

"To me, it's being patriotic, and it shows that I served," Larison told Fox 4.
They try and tow my vehicle from my property and I'd be pressing charges for grand theft auto. Is that still 20 years?

They are enlisting because they are immoral losers willing to kill people for 30 grand a year because they couldn't hack it in the private sector.

Sorry brother, some people don't fake the "hero" card out of guilt.

Keeping it real since 1985.

Don't like the condo rules - change them. Don't like the way the board takes action - replace it. Complaining to the media is the easy way. On the other hand, having been the President of a condo association, I and the board knew there are certain things you don't touch rules or no rules: the flag and veterans.

Would have been interesting to see what the association thought about a "protected by Smith & Wesson" sticker.

I would never live in a HOA, my rebellious and individual nature would lead to problems. Some HOA might be easy going but how do you take the chance?
