Now comes Jeffrey Rosen (The National Review), father of the original-quoted by all-hit piece on Sotomayor, when faulted for his journalisic "lapses", blames everyone but himself. Let's go back and review what Rosen wrote, cherry-picking the quotes from "unnamed sources" who worked "closely" with Sotomayor or other justices who knew her. In other words, the piece was made up of gossip and hearsay.

1. "She's not that bright". No source. Was this an unhappy filing clerk, a law school drop-out, a sitting justice? No one knows because Rosen won't tell.

2. "She's long winded, likes to hear herself talk". Really? If a male judge had this trait we would call him, "professorial", someone who looks to make a "teaching moment" whenever he can.

3. "She's short tempered". Wow, if everyone about whom that had ever been said was disqualified from every job, no one would be employed.

Anyway, most of you know the thread that has run through CNN, Fox, The NYT, WSJ and every other media outlet for the last couple of weeks. Basically The Atlantic picked it up and reprinted a lot of the quotes, which gave every other outlet a chance to say; "lots of people are reporting that...".

Finally there's been enough attention brought to Rosen's original piece that Rosen finally felt compelled to answer some of the charges of shoddy journalism. Did he own up to his mistakes? Are you kidding me? Of course not, no right wing pundit ever owns up to his mistakes. See for example a January 2007, Glenn Greenwald piece on the continuing errors of Bill Kristol's error filled prognostications and lies.

No he did what every other right winger who's ever shown to be a fool, an idiot or just plain wrong, did; he blamed everyone else, then tries to minimize (what he thought was the importance of) the original piece by saying; I thought of it as just a "blog entry" and "I won't be blogging again". He also said he "wants to spend more time with the material before he hits the "send" button! No kidding sherlock. Most of us on here try to spend a little bit of time with the material before we hit the send button!

Let's look at the "I thought of it as just a blog entry" statement (I won't call it a lie, you can though). It was NOT posted on any of TNR's blogs, as his usual blogs are, it was a "stand alone" article, over 1,000 words and was presented as "the first in a series of articles that Rosen will be writing about the leading candidates for the SC Justice postition."

Another right wing hack caught in MAL-practicing journalism.

And just think, if he had never written this piece C-D would have had 20 fewer threads and 5,000 fewer error and rant filled posts the last two weeks. And ElO, Sanrene, PCM and some others would have had to find something else to write about; like the Obama's theatre and dinner date to NY.

Glen Greenwald has an excellent piece dissecting Rosen's alibi;

Or any number of plagiarizers from the NY Times or Washington Post. Or he should just use the Bill Clinton defense and claim he can't recall.
