It's also easier to extract money from someone through defamation case than it is in America. Hopefully Jacqui Smith will be a very very poor person when this is over, humbled by an American across the pond.
A British company also supposedly lost approximately $9M due to a canceled contract after the customer found out about Dr. Savage being on the s-list. It is not 100% known whether the cancellation was caused because of this action or not, or whether it was simply "the straw that broke the camel's back"
Destroy any government official who would punish a regular citizen here or abroad for simply speaking their mind, especially in the government.

MUCH easier, which is why US celebrities engage in "libel tourism" by going to London to file defamation suits.

Agreed, even though I deeply disagree with Savage's views. However, it appears he has a legitimate cause of action against Smith here.

Financial harm makes it easier for any defamation action to be successful.

Yes, and hopefully this will lead to a change in UK libel laws as well. If Savage's suit leads to a change in UK defamation laws then he will have accomplished something worthwhile.

If it's changed so that it is possible to eliminate frivolous lawsuits but actions such as this work 100% of the time, I'm happy too!

The best known example of a US celebrity going to London to file a defamation lawsuit is Tom Cruise suing celebrity rags that "outed" him.
There are many other examples as well.

If the British libel laws are changed, than there is less of a chance of Savage being banned from the UK in the first place as he has not committed any crimes nor does he have any association with violence and criminality.
Ironically, Savage being banned from Britain will result in more hits to his website from the UK and more of his books being sold in the UK - prior to this he was virtually unknown in Britain, and now he's become an instant celebrity. As Frank Zappa said, "the only bad publicity is no publicity".

So, a Cabinet Officer in England, in advance of possibly losing her seat in a election, quits her post and your take is that it was caused by the actions of a third rate talk show host in America, who happens to be a bigot? Amazing.
To paraphrase Shakespeare (Henry IV)
Glendower (Savage); "I can command spirits (cabinet ministers) from (to) the vasty deep".
Hotspur (or any rational person); Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come (or go) when you command them?

Has anyone suggested it was necessarily because of Dr. Savage alone? I find it to be an amazing coincidence, but not necessarily causal. The fact that it happened the day after a BBC interview with Savage is also an amazing coincidence, and reports of her office getting a tidal wave of angry UK citizens' faxes and e-mails is also kind of a coincidence. Smith was also involved in some travel expense scandals, so this Savage deal was perhaps just the straw that broke the camel's back. The one fact is that this is a wonderful day for England when it shed itself of a scandalous bigot in office.

Try to pay attention.

Now onto task #2 of suing

Let's see, I count 7 posts on the subject, none of which mention anything other than Savage. Task # 1 was accomplished suggests that Savage had something to do with it.

It's also coincidence that she may have eaten peas, carrots or peas and carrots in the preceding 72 hours.
I was, usually your posts have some basis in reality, this one was the type of self congratulatory carp that I usually associate with others.
