I am so tired of hearing about unionizing of retail and grocery stores. Unions belong in jobs like labor, construction, medical and that's about it. Unionizing a grocery store or retail outlet is a joke.

A union in a store is only good to protect lazy people who don't want to do more than what they where hired to do and do bare minimum work, and not get fired over it.

This sickens me that we have become so lazy in our jobs that if we are hired to cashier and the business is slow, all we want to do is stand at our register and wait.

Grocery/retail/restaurant unions are a joke. You literally have to pay to work somewhere and the only way to be fired is to basically **** off the union.

I worked for Albertsons for a while and it was a union store, the union did jack for the workers. The benefits where a joke, and all the pro union employees where lazy, and did bare minimum work. I worked my but off to get promoted but, but no, everything is based off seniority. Promotions and raises should be based on hard work, work ethics, and experience, not based on how long you have worked for a company.

If this union bill passes it will be the downfall of the hard working man/woman. The term an honest days work will be long forgotten.

I wonder if unions haven't been passed by with decades of legislation protecting workers rights (I do give unions credit for most of that) and are now simply over the hill and the cause of labor problems and not the solution.

That's a good point. Maybe workers' rights legislation has, by and large, made unions unnecessary?

Unions belong anywhere people are hired to work for someone. These are the only way to keep profit driven unethical businesses from coercing employees to provide more work that they were hired to do. The individual employees need the protection because the businessses are big enough to take care of themselves.

You complain of freeloading lazy employees. Have you ever looked at managment?

Solidarity! Workers unite and support the One Big Union.

Do you even know of how many small business's will be forced to close if this happens. I own my own business, and when I hire employees I look for people who will do more than what is asked of them. People who realize hard work pays off and will benefit them. I only reward hard workers.

I am assuming you have never been a manager or business owner. Managers in retail do more than you see. You have to realize that they aren't there to baby sit employees, they are there to make sure the business runs smoothly.

A union would take away the merit system that should go with raises and promotions. Do you honestly think you should get paid more every year for doing the same job over and over. Hard work should be rewarded, seniority should not unless it is with hard work.

If management would treat workers right you wouldn't need unions.

Spoken like a true socialist with no aspirations to ever be successful or wealthy. Enjoy your life of perpetual mediocrity!
