So, where does that leave us regarding the OP... if you believe that GM should have simply have been liquidated then there is nothing to debate because they wouldn't be making edsels or any other car for that matter.
GM should have gone into bankruptcy long ago.

Re: there is nothing to debate...uh, okay Algore.

More left B.S....the free market did not bring G.M. and Chrysler to this place....Left wing Dem/Enviromentalist did by forcing car companies with C.A.F.A standards that are rediculous and to make B.S. cars that "they didnt want to make and people didnt want to buy" so stop plz

I know I know..Global Warming....Right..right..Plz
Drill baby Drill........We have more oil here then all of the middle East...but wait we cant drill..why you ask.....because of all the non-sense law suit piled on the oil companies everytime they try and drill in a new spot!
Lord knows the lefties would hate if gas was $1.50 a gallon....then there whole scam would fall like a house of cards.

Where are you getting this information from?

The United States has 21 bbl of proven oil reserves.

The top 3 countries with proven oil reserves are

Saudi Arabia 267 bbl
Canada 179 bbl
Iran 138 bbl

The U.S doesn't come close to any of the top 3

Well, it depends on if you include oil shale or not. If you do, than the U.S. has something like 2 trillion barrels of recoverable oil reserves, if not, than yes, we are far behind many other countries.

Understood - cost effective? I think this is the biggest inhibitor of extracting hydrocarbons this way - currently it is cheaper and more technologically feasible to obtain oil through the proven oil reserve method. There are technological challenges as well...It certainly isn't a matter of just drill baby drill lol..But i do hope you reach a point of decreasing or eliminating the need for foreign energy!

This is true. They will force you to buy those vehicles you have rejected.

How long before Government Motors sends this gem down the assembly line.
It may not be the car you want, but it may be the only car you can afford.

Someone wasn't paying attention the last 50 years or so. The UAW destroyed the US auto industry. The transplants doing business outside of Michigan are profitable and the workers there want nothing to do with the UAW. The Democrats will blame everyone except the union members who support them. Meanwhile the last American industries simply fade away.

Let's hope NEVER! Those mini cars are fugly and IMO an accident waiting to happen.

IF it ever gets that bad, that those are the only cars around, my butt will be back on my scoot. I would rather be on 2 wheels that 3 or 4 in that thing, lol! At least my scoot has some muscle!
