I'm sure Osama Bin Laden (or whoever that was) now regrets that he released that tape criticizing Obama's Pakistan policy since he now knows Obama is going to be open and honest....

KABUL (AP) — U.S. deaths in Afghanistan increased threefold during the first two months of 2009 compared with the same period last year, after thousands more troops deployed and commanders ramped up winter operations against an increasingly violent insurgency.

As troops pour into the country and violence rises, another sobering measure has also increased: More Afghan civilians are dying in U.S. and allied operations than at the hands of the Taliban, according to a count by The Associated Press. In the first two months of the year, U.S., NATO or Afghan forces have killed 100 civilians while militants have killed 60.

President Barack Obama recently announced the deployment of 17,000 additional troops to bolster 38,000 already in the country, increasing the U.S. focus on Afghanistan.

but obama is the peacemaker!

Why don't we proclaim Obama master of the world and be done with it! He is all seeing and all knowing. If we would only heed his call, the world will be saved. And then he could tell everyone what to do and how to live, as he sees fit. And we would follow and finally be happy. Shalom

I take it you have the timeline and the exit strategy?

A friend of mine is headed over in December and knows he's going for a year at least.

I see Liberals are just as all knowing, condescending and smug on your side of the hemisphere.

Do you know what condescending and smug mean?

p.s. see ovcatto's post directly below this one, if you need help with your answers.

This the problem with the Bushianic philosophy with divides the world into black and white, no gray, no nuance no complexity, either you're with us of agin us logic.

Your argument presupposes that there are only two types of Muslims (and I am being generous) those that are extremist and those that aren't. Of course this fails to recognize that there are literally millions of Muslims who are neither. The issue before us, and which Obama has attempted to address, is how to convince the millions of Muslims who reside ideologically in the middle, to take sides against religious intolerance and extremism.

So far the extremist only account for the smallest percentage of the Islamic world, but like any group, if the perception is that the west in general and the U.S. in particular is hostile to their religion and culture, through our actions and our words that small percentage will continue to grow larger and more deadly with every successive generation.

So which path would you prefer to continue down, the road of demonization or the road of peace and reconciliation?
