Did Obama just say that Americans "overreacted" to 9-11? (soldier, radical)

Don't even bother. Notice how we have produced the transcript how many times & they either don't comment on it, quote it or they keep insisting that is what he said? I weep for the intelligence level of some of these people. They really really do live in an alternate universe. We've produced concrete evidence, the ACTUAL TRANSCRIPT of the speech for gods sakes & they STILL believe what they want to believe they heard. Pathetic.

You know, often what is NOT said is every bit as important as what is said, and also needs to be considered for the unspoken -- but very clear -- message it sends.
I'm seeing a pattern among some here who just make up inflammatory stories in order to get everyone excited. Facts and reality mean nothing to them. And if you challenge them, then they'll say you've been brainwashed by the "liberal media" or that there's a conspiracy to hide the truth.

I see...and what is that message? So now we're "quoting" things that are not said. Well, that's an excellent tactic

It's hard to tell from the post whether you are talking about Democrats or Republicans.

Well, then you're getting into imaginary thinking. You can come up with all kinds of things that someone DOESN'T say, and then try to use that against them, but to me, it's silly and foolish to do that. In fact, I think it borders on insanity.

Both are guilty of it.
As for myself, I simply ignored the inflammatory nature of the OP and commented on how I felt we did, in fact, overreact to 9-11. That's the best way to handle these types of threads. Try to turn the trolling into an actual discussion on the merits of the subject at hand.
