With the economy what it is, we can no longer afford to be in Iraq. We can no longer afford to give financial aid to foreign countries. It is insane that we are borrowing money from countries to give financial aid to other foreign countries while our unemployment rates keep getting higher and higher.
All everyone is worrying about is paying higher taxes. How about lowering taxes by cutting foreign spending which includes wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. What ever your position on these two conflicts is, you must agree that we are going bankrupt fighting these conflicts for whatever reason we are doing it. Think of how much money we would save by not being in Iraq and the billions we give to Israel and to other countries. This is just crazy.

The United States needs to focus on domestic issues and not international. I agree with your statement.

The U.S. is destructive wherever it goes.

"Afford" to be world cops? We weren't meant to be the world's cops in the first place. Isn't that what the United Nations is supposed to be for?

I was never in favor of the Iraq war, not from day one. we spend far too much money outside the usa, not to say that some of it is a good thing but I am sure we could cut a great deal from that budget. I remember years ago seeing a news story on 60 mins. or other type of show it told of all the money other countries owed us, that we had let them borrow but that we forgive the debt. don't know how true this is, but seems counter productive. lots of waste in government that could be cut. as a powerhouse of the world we should not have hungry children or elderly without health care. we have the money...it is somewhere...and if we don't then tax the churches that have millions and some of which don't do enough to help the poor and needy. many are too busy building bigger and better houes of wroship or bigger homes for their minister's and preachers. something is upside down!

the poster is saying we are better off if the US Government is out destroying other countries instead of doing it here.

Problem is the US Government is here there and everywhere.

ergo- please correct me if I am wrong.
