People can talk about abortion and gay rights all they want to compare America's conservatives with BNP. But, at the end of the day, the BNP is staunchly against nationalization regardless of the circumstances, even under a false pretense of it being "temporary".

I read that Obama's approval index is zero...that is, the same amount of people support and oppose him...O only had the typical left-leaning states, a small part of this country...and he's sinking like a rock...

Voters put president's approval index at 0
The president's ratings have slipped since General Motors filed for bankruptcy to initiate a new government bailout and takeover. Just 26 percent of Americans believe the GM bailout was a good idea and nearly as many support a boycott of GM products. It remains to be seen whether the dip in the president's numbers is a temporary reaction to recent news or something more substantive," the newest report said.

And here is the conclusion of the article:

Quote:
The assessment showed, overall, 54 percent of voters say they at least somewhat approve of Obama's work, and 46 percent disapprove.

Considering where his highs were - ouch!

The strongly approve/disapprove has reached equality, from a 30 point gap.

This is a very true statement. Canada is similar in that we have a Conservative government yet they refused to repeal same-sex marriage laws and most support keeping same-sex marriage legal. Our Conservative govenment are also bigger spenders than our liberal governments of the past that actually did better than any idustrialized nation in balancing the books. Comparing America to other countries vis-a-vie liberal and conservative policies is largely incomparable.

Another factor that has to be taken into account. Tony Blair, the Labour Prime Minister before Gordo Brown took The U.K into Iraq - this was hugely unpopular in Britain and they could be facing a similar electoral backlash as GWB's Repubs in 2008 Nov election.

British PM Gordon Brown survived a rowdy party meeting today despite Labour’s dismal election results and a backbencher uprising, the Guardian reports. 16 Labour parliamentarians spoke in defense of Brown and five called for his resignation in the wake of a high-profile financial scandal. “You solve the problem not by walking away but by facing it and doing something about it,” Brown said in a call for unity.

The BNP took great leaps? They got a few county council seats, largely due to dissatisfaction with the major parties, and lost all 75 seats they ran for in Essex. In the European parliament they only did about as well as the Pirate Party. They are a marginal fourth party and will remain that way.
