Then we are not so far apart on our views on abortion it seems.

I think there was some confusion between "forced pregnancy" (forcing a woman to continue an unwanted pregnancy), and forced pregnancy (the woman was raped.)

I really don't think afoi is a hard core pro-lifer.

I am pro-life. The pill is not abortion. No human DNA has been formed so there is no distinct human life.

Default There IS a difference in methods of contraception...

This thread has digressed from oral contraceptives to abortion in general again. I just want to state that I am not Catholic and I am not against contraception, but being staunchly pro-life, I have pretty much always opposed what is at least, believed to be an "abortifacient" contraceptive, (a contraceptive that prevents implantation of a fertilized egg) such as the IUD. Originally, the birth control pill was said to only prevent ovulation (which would make it a true contraceptive.)Then later it seemed to come out that in some cases, it also worked by preventing implantation, which would put it in the realm of being at least sometimes, an "abortifacient contraceptive." Maybe this seems "nitpicky" to those who don't oppose abortion in general, but I do see a big philosophical difference in how they work. (In short, one way prevents an egg from being fertilized. The other makes it difficult or impossible for a fertilized egg to progress.)
