Considering USA Politics - are you....
Are you considering a move to another city/state in the USA?
When would you leave and why?
What would you have to see happen in the USA in order for you to make a decision to move to another city, state or nation?
Where would you move?
If you are upset by the conditions in the USA and you were born here... or naturalized as a US citizen under what criteria would you leave the USA.
Are you upset with the current conditions in the USA which have motivated you to look to a foreign land to move?
Please explain your thoughts.

Well I really want to move back to South Shore of Massachusetts. But my reasons have nothing to do with any politics. My family, friends, and culture are there and that is where I call home.
I consider myself an economic conservative but social liberal. In other words I don't like to waste money and don't believe in saving the world but I don't care what you do in your bedroom and I don't care how you live your own life as long as it is in peace and within the realm of human decency.
Look politics at this point is a bunch of Bull$h!t. The two parties we got are pretty much one in the same. Members of both beholden to lobbyists that contribute vast sums of money to get elected. Their ears are held to special interests instead of us the American people. Now with that said. I still have some hope that eventually Americans will reach for and achieve regaining those politicians ears and will be heard again. But it going to take alot of work from a grassroots level.
Look I probably don't have alot in common with people in the bible belt (cultural beliefs and social views) but I think we can both agree that the constitution of the united states binds us together. And that we should try to uphold the spirit of that document. Granted we do need to have an honest debate about our interpretations of that document so we can move forward and rebuild our government to work for the people again.

leave the nation:
A Kristallnacht. then I truly would know that Americans have turned against themselves.
leave a city/state:
If the state/city caused a social limitation that I could not bear.
Where would you move?
Hmmmmmmm..........good one. I honestly don't know. Short-term probably Canada.

Think I already answered this in previous questions.

Well my thoughts come from a chemical/electrical impulses at the neuron junctions in the gray matter of my brain. Most of my thoughts come from current situations intermixed with memories that form my personality and personal views of the world. Of course you have to take into account my natural temperment that I was born with as well.

Well, I'm moving from Michigan to North Carolina in a month and a half due to sheer necessity: My home state is falling apart, and there's no opportunity to build a decent future here. I know I'll like it down there, and the people are great, but I'll always have an eye on moving back--if not MI then somewhere in the upper midwest. I like the cool weather, the great lakes, the farms and peaceful small towns, the sensible pragmatic outlook on life. It's a nice place. It's home.
What would make me leave the country? True political unrest--an armed revolution in the style of the French or Americans. Or a Kristallnacht, like baystater said. I don't handle mass killings well. I'd probably move to another english speaking country. First on my list would be Canada because it's close by, then Australia, New Zealand, or somewhere in Europe

Oh. I almost forgot. I very much wouldn't mind spending alot of my time up in the western UP of Michigan. My family got a place up by L'anse and I've been spending two weeks a year helping to fix of the shack they bought. Work in progress. But man that is God's country up there, and say this as an agnostic.

I love it up there. My dad has a cabin up there and we go up for thanksgiving every year. I think Northern Michigan is one of the best kept secrets in the U.S. when it comes to natural beauty.

I am considering moving to another state to pursue graduate school and have thought about perhaps in 40 years of retiring to Malaysia, for the unspoiled beaches, awesome weather, cheap cost of living, and excellent medical care only a short distance away in Singapore, but not for any political reasons.

There are no conditions that would make me move and abandon the USA. Been around the world, several times, have lived in several other countries and I can assure you that the grass is Not greener on the other side. Yes, many countries do have good things to offer and can make an excellent home but this nation is special and so are it's people. We as a People may argue with eachother over the issues but when it really comes down to it we are one people, 9-11 was proof of that and the terrorists are finding that out today. It is in our nature to argue and our system of government almost requires we take an active roll which includes debate. Some people living in other nations make the mistake of assuming that because we do agrue amoung ourselves that we are not a nation that can unify and fight a common enemy, the result of such thinking always brings ruin to those that act upon it, and always will.

There is a flaw in your poll - you assume that every time we vote we vote to change government. I voted to change the direction of government in the last election, but would be happy to vote for consistency in the next election (pending no major changes to the policy direction).
So long as things are moving in the right direction I have no desire to vote for change.

My brother had it pegged about 20 years ago:
Quote:

It's a rat race out there and the rats are winning,

he said.
This is not the country that our founding fathers envisioned, with our freedoms continuously eroded.
I never thought I'd ever live to see the day when people who call themselves Americans could actually embrace the notion of converting a capitalist democracy into a communist monarchy, but I've been wrong before.
