See.

This is why Americans can't go overseas without being laughed at.

I'd suggest an alternative sentencing whereon he is released to Mark Foley for a period of time no less than five years.

I am thinking the kid pleaded guilty and had no idea/will never understand what that means.

Sure - he did something wrong - but 100yrs in prison? Just to much.
I think he'll get out on appeal. A person with his IQ doesn't understand what constitutes inappropriate behavior, so I think the disability will serve as a basis for dismissing his confession.

It seems highly unlikely to me that an individual with an IQ of 47 is even verbal.
I mean, how did he "confess"?
Point at some anatomically-correct doll and grunt?
people with IQs of 47 don't talk.
That is a profoundly, profoundly retarded individual.
I'm surprised he wasn't institutionalized, and double surprised he was allowed to roam the neighborhood unsupervised and unprotected.
It sounds like a completely unsuitable environment for someone that disabled.

Someone with a 47 IQ isn't just Corky Thatcher retarded, it is turnip retarded. Surely he isn't competent.... I don't think it's safe to allow him to roam the streets but couldn't they send him to some sort of mental treatment facility? Prison doesn't seem like the right answer here.

A six year old girl gets sexually abused, and we worry about the abuser. Nice.

The victim was a six year old boy, not a six year old girl. And the abuser is likely less intelligent and more of a "child" than the six year old.

I'm about as hardline as they come when it comes to crime and punishment and if this individual would have been a normal, functioning adult I'd say the proper punishment would be the death penalty, not prison.

The perp isn't competent, therefore can't be held responsible for his actions. That being said, he needs to be kept away from the rest of the population to prevent this from happening again.

Lock him away in a mental hospital.

Tossing him into gen pop of a maximum security prison where he'll be raped and brutalized daily isn't justice in my opinion.

Agree. If anyone is to blame it's whomever was caring for him. Sad situation for all involved.
