I agree this person doesn't deserve 100 years but you do your argument a disservice when comparing him to an 18 month old. Although his IQ is quite low it is not so low that he is rendered incapable of moving or thinking or acting.

As one who has worked extensively with the mentally retarded, and actually has an adult mentally retarded child, let me tell you that the person has little to no ability to determine that what they did was inappropriate.
At an IQ below 60, reading is unlikely beyond word recognition. Math is beyond their comprehension, as are the basic concepts associated with science. Also, they cannot understand the concept of money, a $20 will be just like a $1 to those folks.
If I were the parents of the 6 year old, i'd be praising the jury for upholding the law instead of cowering to emotions that could have set this guy free.
If I were the parents of the six year old, I would nevertheless be the first to join the "free Aaron Hart" committee.
100 hours in the Texas prison system is cruel and unusual punishment for just about any offender. 100 years for this offender places Texas on the moral level of Iran or North Korea.

This case is so sensitive. I feel bad for not only the victim, but also the boy who did it, his parents & the parents of the victim. Come on guys, this boy, you know he didn't truly now what he did was wrong. Have you no sympathy whatsoever for this? I think that boy definitely needs to be in a facility or something that cares for him, teaches him, etc. But to be put in prison for this is just a little too wrong for me. And for whoever mentioned the victims parents going after that boy, if I were the parents of that girl you can be damn sure I would understand the circumstances & NOT want that boy to go to prison. Where has compassion gone in our society?

Compassion has never been especially prized in this outhouse of a country, but these days it's especially out of favor with red-blooded, GOP types. It's not macho, you see.
He is 18 and a legal adult. I am glad he is behind bars.
His body may be 18, but his mind is about on par with an 18 month old's; if by some miracle he survives prison and lives to be 80, his mind will still be that of an 18-month-old.

He fondled a little boy, not a girl; as far as a facility 'teaching" him, I doubt he's educable.
He just needs to be cared for.
I wonder if he's even able to manage his own feeding, toileting, and hygiene, with that IQ.
What sort of assistance is he receiving in prison (beyond being sexually assaulted, I mean)?
It's not that "tough" if one fully comprehends the implications of "47 IQ".
The assailant in question without a doubt had a lower level of mental functioning than his 6-year-old victim, and should no more have been free to wander the streets unprotected than any other toddler, even though he might've been encased in an adult body.

Paris is the town of Shaquanda Cotton, the black 14 year old girl who was sent to juvenile prison (TYC) for shoving a teacher. Paris is also the town where the lynching occurred a few months ago. These were both in the national news.

EDIT: I checked the Lamar County jail records and verified that he is white. It's still a messed up place.
I also found out that he was sexually assaulted in jail in April.
