If the joke were about Obama's daughters, the left would be after letterman with pitchforks.

It was really nothing more than a stupid, bad, joke. The problem is the response and the fact that it's not a big deal, because it was left attacking right. If it were the other way around, the left would be up in arms.

Probably calling him a nazi, as that's the big new word for them right now.

Palin is a political shark - she's not real smart, but she has killer instincts. She will do whatever she thinks it will take to win, including exploiting her unmarried, pregnant daughter, who is now an unmarried single mom preaching abstinence - whether she wants to or not.
Ohhh...wow to me it is the same. Both didn't exploide their kids..Both have been on stage with their kids...both should be off limits!

You are a hypocrite!

She also mentioned the double standard and how Obama before he was the president told the media that family was off limits for jokes or anything and how this was obayed by Liberals and Rep. to Liberals, but not in case of Rep. woman. You go girl, Palin showed how she can handle her self and I hope Letterman's ratings will drop so he will find out what he really did.

Where is the out cry for him being fired...like with Imus...well Rep. are different we just want the ratings to take care of it!
You must have been viewing that interview with some thick glasses. Even her own party pushes back on her energy ambititions plus the WSJ. Seriously this woman loses all credibility. She knew the joke was about Bristol and if she didn't get it, then she's even more clueless. But to let this go on for days arguring with David Letterman is just pointless. Is this really how she wants people to take her serioiusly? Having a people fight with a late night talk show host? Seriously? Get back to governing Sarah and try to remind the folks in Alaska why they elected you. On a lighter note I think that Palin is just a wee bit short of being certified insane.

Now if world leaders like Putin were just comedians.....

But, seriously folks, do you really consider this whining cry baby for anything other position than Avon lady???? (my apology to Avon ladies who HAVE brains and a backbone)

Shouldn't Palin quit wasting Alask's taxes and quit campaigning????Especially since it consists of attending ballgames and whining????
Okay. By your attitude, as shown by your comments, it is acceptable to declare open season on the Obama girls and wife for anything that may be considered or claimed as comedy. I can think of a few right off the top of my head, but these people have done nothing to warrant them. Neither has the Palin family.

Of course it is only hate when pointed at your side, comedy when at the other.

Pitiful.

And if Palin had kept her family in the background the liberal cry would have been that she was ashamed of and embarassed by them. You liberals are really trying to create a no win situation out of nothing. But that is just typical operating procedure.

MONROE, Michigan (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama said firmly that families are off-limits in the campaign for president, reacting to news that GOP running mate Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.
"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."
