There is a church of denial and I believe its all made possible by two things to those who deny the obvious, and they are:

1) A right wing echo chamber of disinformation on the internet, television and other corporate misinformers

Sorry man - i'm not a conservative or right wing echo chamber - but I do happen to have a different viewpoint than yours about global warming and it doesn't mean i'm dumb or anybody else is.

The thing we need to remember the most is that the earth (and sun) go through cycles constantly and many different cycles simultaneously, and many of these cycles overlap and "team up" to have more profound effects upon our atmosphere. So it's tricky business, proving one way or the other. But I will say this - the existence of said cycles does not disprove the global warming theory.

Secondly, many people don't realize this, but there's only something like 22.7 miles of atmosphere. So, if you could drive a car straight up, at normal highway speeds, you would be in space in less than a half hour. It's not as large of a system as many seem to perceive. When put into that perspective, I don't think it's too difficult to believe that our activities will have some effect. It's to what degree that effect carries itself which should be the real debate, (in my opinion, of course, and I did have meteorology and geology courses in college, so I am not a complete novice with regard to the subject).

The theory of Global Warming is similiar to the theory of Evolution, in that the science is "there", but the data can be interpretly differently and a few people will come to a different conclusion. Few people realize that global warming does not mean it will get warmer everywhere. In fact one theory called "The Big Freeze"...predicts another Little Ice Age as a direct result of glaciers melting, especially Greenland. The excess fresh water will change the surrounding temperature and salinity of the ocean causing the Thermohaline Circulation in the Atlantic Ocean to shut down, which will limit the equatorial heat of the ocean to be redistributed to the eastern United State's coast and to Europe....triggering another ice age. Greenland is almost at the point now of a "runaway feedback effect", where more ice will melt at an accelerated rate.

Natural cycle is more accurate, here's just a few inaccuracies from Gore's Inconvenient Truth:

* The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

* The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

* The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

Also, I am a little confused about the "Ice Agers" you refer to. What does this mean? The ultimate result of a warming trend as suggested by the Global Warming concept is an ice age. Anyone who thinks the current weather is leading us to an ice age is, in essence, acknowledging the truth in Global Warming, because that is what has to happen before a ice age would begin in order to sufficiently stop the jet stream.
