Yeah, the same group that lobbied against Medicare in the 60s. The AMA has nothing but their own members' best interests at heart.

As for rationing, does anyone honestly believe that health care isn't already rationed? All of this talk about the government standing between us and our doctors, as if the insurance companies aren't already paying non-health professionals to make decisions about what to cover and how much to pay? As if insurance companies aren't already dropping people who need extraordinary care or refusing to cover people with pre-existing conditions?
More than 60 percent of all bankruptcies are caused by medical bills and most of the people who declared had health insurance. Does anyone really believe that the current system is working?

"Health insurance appears to be useless when it is most needed. Twenty-five percent of insurance companies cancel coverage immediately when an individual covered suffers a disabling illness. Within a year, another twenty-five percent of insurers cancel coverage."
Majority of Bankruptcies Due to Medical Bills - Consumerism Commentary, personal finance since 2003

This is the system that the AMA wants to preserve.

Are you sure of this statement you are quoting?
It has always been my understanding that a company cannot arbitrarily drop ones coverage unless they drop an entire same class or stop doing business in that state.

I've seen it happen! First hand! Wake up people, we've been brainwashed into thinking our docs and insurance companies care more about our well being then their own. Not true, can't be true, they have mortgages and families to pay for as well. It's set up in a way that perpetuates greed.

One of the issues that doctors take exception to is Obama's unwillingness to put caps on malpractice awards. Gotta reward the ambulance chasing lawyers that helped buy the election after all. While doctors are expected to "suck it up" and help promote Bobo's government health care plan, lawyers get a payoff. Kind of like the UAW don't you think?

Under medicare and medicaid health care providers are only repaid a portion of the cost of services. Those unreimbursed costs are paid by those that have to pay directly for services, or by insurance companies.

Ah if you think the Dr's are in bed with the insurance companies you are sadly mistaken. they have to deal with them too and they dislike the insurance companies as much as we do.

And the whole "Govt will provide competition and keep prices low" is a bunch of tripe. You cant be both player and referee. As it stands now, Medicare pays less than services charged, which is why almost 50% of doctors don't accept it or have opted out. There is already a shortage of drs. Wait until the gumbint sets prices, not only for services but for salaries. Talk about doctor and nurse shortage. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Talking to Doctors about health care reform is like talking to wolves about not eating sheep.
