Exxxxxactly.

Not to mention children, who can't leave anytime they want to.

California is off to a good start, banning smoking in any car with a child inside.

you want to smoke, go for it, pay what it cost and smoke. we all pay for what we do and some things are expensive, if you can't afford it, quit. simple as that.

As for its addictive qualities, is anyone going to honestly say that those poor people huddled outdoors in the rain, wind, heat, or cold to get their hourly nicotine are doing it for enjoyment?
I assume you support the forcible isolation and prosecution of anyone who catches the flu and stops by the grocery store. After all, they are forcing people to breath their virus-infested exhale, which can lead to sickness and death.

What does this have anything to do with this topic? Someone who gets sick has no choice about it. The smoker does have an option. They can go get professional help if they cannot quit their destructive habit. Nobody should have to suffer due to their addictive habit.

If one child is spared this lifelong habit because they didn't get to smoke a Vanilla cigarette and instead smoked a nasty regular one and thought it was disgusting, then this new regulation is a positive thing!
No choice?

How many tens of millions of smokers have quit? How many of them quit before the big anti-tobacco movement of the past few decades?

Is it an addiction? In the chemical sense, yes. More addictive than heroin? Give me a f--king break. Smokers don't go through anything compared to what heroin addicts (or alcoholics or coke addicts) go through. Stronger than caffiene withdrawl (you know those people who get pissey if they "miss" their morning coffee?)? Yes. Heroin? F--k off.

Funny, my parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles smoked around me as a child and I am fit as a fiddle. I am also a non smoker. I still do not see how regulating what people do in their own private home/vehicle is anyone elses business. Keep your nose to yourself is my motto.

What is it...do smokers have a choice or not? And stop repeating it is a drug. It is common knowledge it is a drug. Drugs are not made illegal on the health issues they create or the withdrawl symptoms. They are made illegal because of the mind altering effects of the drug i.e. mind body disconnection.

I'm just waiting for some smoker to notice that in Sec 2 (33) of that law, it defines tobacco addiction as a "chronic disease," and, earlier, defines tobacco use by minors as a "pediatric disease."

Given that tobacco use is now, officially, a disease and not an addiction, I see no reason why someone shouldn't file for Social Security disability payments based upon the fact that nobody will let you smoke on the job. I'd do it myself, but I'm already drawing it.

Any takers? It may be a tough fight, but with the right help, I think it's doable. Then, after you've won your case with SS, you can go down to your favorite non-smoking restaurant or bar and force them to put back their smoking sections in under the American's with Disabilities Act!!!

Take that, you smoke Nazis!

Um first off there is not need to be rude and use profanity!

It has been said that Nicotine is as addictive if not more so than Heroine and Cocaine.
