I'm talking about the Native Americans.

Our governments seems to go out of its way to say "We're sorry" to everyone else but them. That coward Andrew Jackson murdered thousands of them on the "Trail of Tears", no one has said (Sorry) for that. And look at all of them that have died because of being put on a useless plot of ground in a reservation, then moved because some white man found that there oil on it. The children snatched from thier loving parents, forced to attended so called christian schools, got thier hear cut off and not allowed to speak thier Native tongue and being beat for doing so. Millions have died in the northern territory, the southwest plains and all along the eastern sea board and Gulf coast. But no we're not hearing anything about that, are we?

And yes, Andrew Jackson was a coward.

I am part Blackfoot Indian..but I am an American and proud to be. All of us can look back in our past and regret things we have done. I think we need to "get over it...all of it". Why waste our lives rehashing all of this old garbage. It only makes us all bitter. I understand your point...but it's time to move on.

I can respect that (love Montana) . My Grand Mother was 1/2 blood Cherokee. It just ticks me off reading all this garbage about "The government say we're sorry" to this group or that race. I know its the past, so I'm trying to make a point thats its all useless words.

The people that were natives to this country were without a doubt abused. First, they were conquered, but perhaps worse was the way they were treated after.

For decade after decade, they were placed on reservations and deprived of living their lives the way to which they were accustomed.

Black people were enslaved, and IMO, Native Americans were enslaved as well.

The only way we as a country can get over this is to stop looking to the past and instead look to the future.

Of course, I am a white person and my ancestors (at least in this country) did not live through the struggles of the native people and blacks, so my opinion is just that - an opinion only.

I regret and hate the struggles that Native Americans, Blacks, as well as Women of all races had to go through in our nation's history.

These are lessons learned, and we should never go down that path again, or we should be damned.
