The fact that the Iranian government explicitly prohibited Iranian mosques from hosting a memorial ceremony for this young lady is the exact reason that Iran should be considered the oppressive, religously fanatical regime that it is, and nations worldwide should treat it as such. Human rights are nearly non-existent. It's time to put a chokehold on these fools.

Are you suggesting that the US stop working with all oppressive regimes? Or is Iran a special case?

Which oppressive regimes are we supporting that are developing nuclear weapons outside of the NNPT, threatening to wipe another nation off the map, and killing protesters in the street because of a tainted election? For the life of me, I can't think of a single nation. Enlighten me.

Thanks. Many news reports still have her at 16. I'll see if one of the mods can amend the thread title.

First there is no actual proof that Iran is producing nuclear weapons, only conjecture.
Second, I can think of a slew of oppressive regimes we're good buddies with including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Believe me, I'd be for not working with countries like that but it would be a pretty dramatic shift of US foreign policy.

I've read that the man was her professor, not her father.
*BBC *فارسی - *ايران - *نامزد ندا آقا سلطان: ندا خواهان آزادی بود، آزادی برای همه
Translated by huffpo readers:

"About the day of the incident, Mr. Makan said: "When the clashes were occurring, Neda was far away from the demonstrations, she was in one of the side alleys near Amir Abad. Thirsty and tired or being cooped up for about an hour in the car in heavy traffic with her music instructor, she finally gets out of the car and, based on the pictures sent in by the people, armed forces in civilian clothes and the Basiji targeted and shot her in the heart."
