Sure, Alaska is on the government handout gravy train. It's easy to do well when you get more back from the federal government than you put in. It's also the most socialist state in the country.

Yup. Another point - AK's success may be largely due to mass federal subsidization, but TX has a surplus and we are a donor state.

Thanks for the update, I honestly did not know. Congratulations. After the election of the Affirmative Action President and the subsequent drop in the market as a result, Alaska lost about $10 billion since Nov. 2008 but we still have just over $32 billion in the black.
