Don't forget that one corporation stands to make billions from crap and trade. You know who they are, the owners of Disney,NBC,MSNBC and CNBC who were/are huge supporters of Obama.
For those that still don't know it's GE.

The EPA was floating around a number of $ 140, but it is a lie to garner support for the legislation. Heritage has reaching showing much higher increases in energy costs than that.

Actually worse than that. The cement making itself will be taxed yet the cement companies have to use electricity which is taxed so that's layers of tax being passed on to us. It's not just a single tax..it's a tax on each entity which in turn passes higher cost on to the next.

It should be considered an energy based regressive value added tax that conservatives have wanted for years.

release:
(ATR) urges all members of Congress to vote “no” on H.R. 2454, “The American Clean Energy and Security Act,” also known as the Waxman-Markey plan (or Cap-and-Trade/Cap-and-Tax).

The concerns are still the same; this bill increases the price of energy and taxes all American families, not just those making over $250,000 :
• Direct energy costs will go up $1,500 per year for the typical family of four.
• Even with a 26% reduction in use, electric bills will be $754 higher in 2035 than in the absence of Waxman-Markey, and $12,200 higher in total from 2012 to 2035.
• Even with a 15% decrease in gas consumption – prices will still go up! A family of four will still pay $596 more in 2035 and $7,500 more in total from 2012 to 2035.
• From 2012-2035, a family of four will see its direct energy costs rise by $22,800.
• On average, employment will be lower by 1,105,000 jobs per year. In some years, cap and trade will reduce employment by nearly 2.5 million jobs.
• Waxman-Markey will drive up the national debt 26 percent by 2035. This represents an additional $29,150 per person, or $116,600 for a family of four.
Make no mistake; this is nothing more than a massive tax increase and rate increase on every single American family. Vote “NO” on H.R. 2454, Waxman-Markey

this is not a republican / democrat issue. whether you are a republican or a democrat your rate will still go UP ,even if you decrease your electricity and gas usage!
i think it is insanity to talk about more taxes on people when the job situation is not under control and people are still losing their jobs.
for an example, look at your own budget. if your budget is out of control, first you cut expenses. you do not increase your expenses when you are trying to balance your budget. the government has no right to force americans to increase their expenses during hard economic times.

Looks like Waxman dropped a 300-page amendment last night.

Will anybody read it before voting?

Will they even read the entire bill before voting?

Call your SENATORS - this bill will live or die in the senate.

IBDeditorials.com: Editorials, Political Cartoons, and Polls from Investor's Business Daily -- Waxman-Markey: Man-Made Disaster

Quote:
Its centerpiece is a "cap and trade" provision that has been rightfully derided as "cap and tax." It is in fact a tax on energy everywhere it is consumed on everything it is used to make or provide.

It is the largest tax increase in American history — a tax on all Americans — even the 95% that President Obama pledged would never see a tax increase.

And what would we get for all this pain? According to an analysis by Chip Knappenberger, administrator of the World Climate Report, the reduction of U.S. CO2 emissions to 83% below 2005 levels by 2050 — the goal of the Waxman-Markey bill — would reduce global temperature in 2050 by a mere 0.05 degree Celsius.

It also makes it more difficult to open new businesses, hire people, make a profit and compete with India and China. It's becoming harder to make ends meet in this country mainly because we have a government looking after someone else's interests, not the American people. If this bill passes Americans will continue to see their standard of living reduced again by the Fed and on purpose I believe for special interests and to boost the standard of living of other nations. I also believe both parties are party to this reduction in our standard of living.

Manufacturers will be fleeing off shore like crazy.

You would be stupid to start a new manufacturing biz here in the USA now.

All this bill is, is totalitarianism/communism at it's finest and it will be the end of the USA as a great country and the free market. The government will own every transaction in this country now via a tax of course which it can control. Prices on all goods and services will increase dramatically while due to all our government debt and printing of money our earning power will be less.

I think it's time to start looking at how to escape America if we can't get a lot of this radical legislation stopped.
