What are you saying? That Obama sucks at giving gifts while Quaddafi excells at it? We all have our talents...

An Embarrassment of Riches: Gifts to U.S. Presidents - Brookings Institution
Quote:
If the volume of gifts to the president is any indication, Americans are a very generous people. Presidents and their First Ladies receive thousands of gifts each year, from large to small, from domestic to gifts from heads of state. Any gift not from a foreign official must be logged by the White House Gift Unit and managed by one of several domestic agencies, while gifts from foreign officials are managed by the State Department. Gifts are managed under the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act of 1966, the Presidential Records Act of 1978, and subsequent amendments to both, while disclosure of gifts accepted by the president or First Lady must be disclosed on the Standard Form 278 created under the 1978 Ethics in Government Act and its subsequent amendments. Under the Code of Federal Regulations, these disclosures must identify the source and describe each gift, and estimate the value of any gift or gifts from the same source that aggregate to more than $260 in value.

And how is a diamond ring (in terms of a gift) different than an iPod? I mean, one is a piece of jewelry, the other is an electronic - but beyond that they are just gifts. Perhaps it might've been better to give something that is made in America... but that is mighty hard to find.

I am pretty that I-Pods are made in America. Apple is based out of San Jose(Cupertino), California... Is that American enough for you? All the nuts would be going batty if Obama received such an extravagant gift/s... Plain and simple.

He returned the bust of Winston Churchill. Obama has shown not only that he doesn't know how to pick gifts but that he doesn't understand what other gifts, even to himself, mean. It's like the relative that hates being at the family gatherings...

Not even a little problem in that he represented a government that sponsored the murders of Americans
on PanAm 103?

And was allowed to buy his way out of guilt?

I think the Dukester is calling Obama a "doofus", in his own way.

Obama can throw one helluva party for 2500 guests, but can't give a decent gift as the leader of our nation. Maybe he could ship Ahmadinejad a few pigs to congratulate him on his "victory".

Obama is a freakin' embarrassment!!
